Thats rabbit island right :s13: I love that place  Heaven for rabbit lovers!!!

I dont remember the exact details, but I took a bus from Hiroshima Airport to some small city, and changed to their JR train, got down at Tadanoumi station, and from there took the ferry to the island.

It is possible to go there from Osaka, but its completely out of the way, but good thing is lots of the bunnies stay right in front of the lodging area.

Hiroshima airport is international.

The bunnies there are wild, so dont expect them to stay still and let you pet. Once they grab their food from you they will just run away lol

Np. If you havent, try searching for okunoshima on youtube to see how super active the bunnies are when asking for food =) If not you will probably be shocked when you reach there hahaha

And I heard that at the dock where you board the ferry, you can buy veges from there to feed the bunnies. Dont recall seeing that when i was there though. Otherwise dont worry about having nothing to feed them; the lodging area sells a small pail of rabbit feed for around 100yen.

The last time I went was in summer. I dont think there is a bad time..............the bunnies are smart enough to know that humans feed them so lots of them concentrate at the lodging area. I heard that during winter more of them come out due to lack of food in the mountain area.

And since rabbits are by right nocturnal creatures going out at night will let you see more of them.

I am now at tadanoumi station, saw no less than 60 bunnies hopping around spread out all over and haha seems like they are well trained to expect food from human cos once I reach nearer to them, quite a number of them will run towards me, then once se.e that I have no food for them, they will scramble off, very practical. And zzz they looks like only doing the same thing the whole time, eat. They just kept eating anything that is available. Unless you have a telephoto lens, if not not easy to take a close up shot of them as once they know you have no food, they will move away. Once you have something to feed them, alot of them will run towards you.

Oh, I only went there for a short 2 plus hours side trip. Haha i never expect their stomach can handle eating buffet for 2 hours :s13:

Well apart from the rabbits, supposedly there are some historic world war 2 relics like the now deserted poison factory but i did not go there so i am not sure if any of those are worth taking a look at.

So summary of this place. You will need to get to Mihara via Shinkansen, transfer to local Kure line and alight at Tadanoumi station. Go out the station and to the right, there is a big area map showing you how to walk to the pier, just a short 5 to 10 mins walk. At the pier, you buy your round trip ferry ticket at 600 yen then off you go. The bunnies will be waiting for you just outside the pier area.
