old desktop - ssd

dear bros,

i have an old pc which is slow and making lots of noise. i would like to change my hard disk to ssd. As i already have windows 10 license (free upgrade from win 8) i plan to reinstall windows rather than cloning the hard drive.

my questions:

1. i dont have windows 10 cd or media. i do remember that i can download it and install? how do i input the license key? i think its digital license. where do i download the installable media?

2. pc is 5 years old. can i use this ssd https://m.qoo10.sg/gmkt.inc/Mobile/Goods/Goods.aspx?goodscode=620273909&banner_no=1305330. how easy it is? any specific thing i need to be aware of?

You may download Win 10 Media from Microsoft website . Since you have upgraded to Win 10 from Win 8.1, you do not need to input any product key. It will be activated automatically with Microsoft server.

That SSD you intending to get is okay. However, your concern should be the drivers of your system. You may try to install and then do Windows update to get all the drivers. Its easy and the same as replacing your hard disk except this time with SSD.

From the MS website, you can use the media creation tool to create a bootable USB with Win 10.

During installation, skip the serial number. Win 10 will activate automatically after installation is complete if you are connected to the internet.

I've installed Win 10 before on a Core2Duo system so Win 10 should have no problem working on your PC.

Don't need care much about drivers... It ain't that old..

Only driver needed are those weirdo cards...SCSI related..Video capture card...etc

Generally most drivers are generic

If not download from internet

If your PC is 5 years old it is definitely not that old.

Core 2 Duo era PC can install Windows 10 perfectly fine. And they are more than 10 years old.

You should be able to install Windows 10 natively and drivers should be automatically updated and working.

Thanks to all. managed to upgrade my laptop instead of my desktop (having some issues with detecting hard disk). lap top speed has been increased considerably.
