LG 27GR95QE OLED Monitor - update

Today I tested the monitor with 4k 120Hz resoulution using HDMI 2.1 as screenshot below, somehow the text color fringing no longer showing when compared to 1440p native resolution:

I wonder if anyone having the same monitor will try the HDMI 2.1 and render at 4k resolution to test and confirm for same behavious?

For gaming there are no issue a can always change in game setting back to 1440p 240hz resolution.

Note: I didnt use CRU to delete my 4k profile.

my POV default is the best. majority of the time your windows are covering your wallpaper..
I do agreed for all monitor resolution should set as native default, nevertheless for this 27" OLED at native resolution text color fringing is a real deal very different from normal IPS panel.

Upon multiple test and experiment with higher resolution at 4k instead of native 1440p does eliminate the text fringing to minimum to almost hard to be noticed during daily desktop usage even I try to enlarge all the text in browser.

Currently my wallpaper is solid black while still searching for nice wallpaper suitable for OLED monitor.

revisit this video and the misconception clarification on how 12-bit video signal can bring some benefits even on a 10-bit panel (time stamp: 4:19)

It is nice. But for if you care about longevity, this is not the way to go. The organic compound wear out the more you use them. So having a black background and a black screensaver will be much better than having the pixels having to constantly display something.

Look no other than the QD-OLED Test. The reason why it was more prone to wear and tear causing burn-in is simple. In order to display white, like in almost every content out there with a bright white wall in the background or the daylight sky, the QD-OLED has to use up all the subpixels to display white. While on the LG, most of it is done through the dedicated White subpixel. And as you know, some colours on an OLED degrade faster than others. Thus why the Samsung QD-OLEDs suffer burn-in way early on. Not to mention the little amount of compensation cycles it runs in the background.

So moral of the story, have it on a black background and especially to a black screensaver when your PC is not in use in order to not let any subpixel be unnecessarily used thus lengthening its lifespan.

you need 10,000 brightness nits to see 12bits shade....haha

Can also read more on the article shared by Phen8210 for the HDR10+ article too as this is good resources to show the important of bit depth more than 10bit that are crucial for "Dynamic HDR" that separate from "Static HDR"

for anyone who have HDR capable monitor or Dolby Vision TV using PC and wish to try Netflix extention in "Edge" Browser:

First Install Dobly Vision Extension

https://apps.microsoft.com/store/detail/dolby-vision-extensions/9PLTG1LWPHLF

Secondly Install Netflix Extension

https://microsoftedge.microsoft.com...ion/oikpkeeoofpiapmjioabikmgjeaoggcn?hl=en-GB
Thirdly restart browser or refresh the netflix on Edge Browser you should be able to choose the setting on the left by clicking on the extension (if it is hidden do select to show)

If you study the cable connection speed and current gen 4090.
It hard to go above 48Gbit bandwidth(HDMI2.1).

even DP2.1 on 7900xtx also half baked connection(UBHR 13.5=55Gbit).also around HDMI2.1 speed.
DP2.1 native speed is at 80Gbit(77Gbit) but we see zero product on this.

so stick with 4K/120hz-144hz or 1440P 240Hz max. This is why i straight buy LG Oled.
