HK set is installed with Oxygen OS and has the 3 pin plug for UK use, so you have no worries using it out of the box.

As for getting your friend to bring over here, I don't think customs will check him. It is only one phone and he can always say it's for his own personal use.

If your friend is bringing in like boxes of the phones, then customs confirm will check.

You are lucky to save the shipping and GST so to me, that's already a good reason to get your friend to bring it here for you.

Which RAM/Storage Memory are the general consensus getting, considering they are $100 apart? The 64gb or the 128gb? Or whichever ships at the soonest off the website?

As long it's not a phone from Tiong land sold to Tiong market, it will have google play store. So yes, the phone will have google play store.

I always go for the best, so 128gb is no brainer.

I am contemplating whether to buy the OnePlus 5T from OnePlus.net/hk and ask my friend (not Singaporean) to help me bring it over when he comes to Singapore for holiday in January. Am doing this not because of the savings but because (from my understanding) of my preference for the three pin plug in Hong Kong sets.

I will like to confirm if HK sets will have all the necessary updated OS and apps out of the box (ie: Oxygen OS, Google Playstore, etc) as I am not tech savvy, and wish to avoid having to boot/flash/install ROM if possible.

I will also like to enquire if there will be any GST complications during custom check if I ask my friend to tear the plastic seal and price label off the packaging, but otherwise, leave everything else as it is inside the box per its new condition, and declare it as his personal spare phone.

Understand that the GST avoidance can get really touchy, so please private message me if you prefer so. Thanks in advance for any advices per your experiences/knowledge.

the good thing about borderlinx is that it's using dhl express.

yesterday evening I requested for my parcel to be released.

today late afternoon they handed my parcel to dhl

Volatge is same in HK and sg. Shipping is also cheaper

Yeah, I am actually waiting to see the cart coupon at Qoo10 on 12.12 before ordering from OnePlus HK. Hopefully the price after coupon can be convincing enough to purchase the 8gb/128gb.

Regarding the 3 pin dash charger on Carousell, are they really authentic original product as they claim? I've had alot of problems with knock offs data/charging cables, will choose to avoid them if possible.

But the charger is from 100 to 240 volt. So it can be used, except that it used two flat pin.
Anyway, I made a purchase and shipping costs me Usd45. I am still awaiting for my phone. Should receive it by next week, I hope!

no, it's because vpost doesn't have hongkong warehouse. borderlinx is the only one I know that has a hk warehouse

2. wait
- borderlinx hk operates on weekdays office hours only
- borderlinx live chat support operates 24/7, but certain procedures need hk side to fulfill
- oneplus tend to over quote the estimated delivery time. I received my package a few days earlier than quoted

3. borderlinx will email you when it's ready to send the package to singapore from their warehouse
- they use dhl express, delivery is about 2-3 days
