How to do root?

Just like on most other phones with stock or near-stock Android.

You first unlock the bootloader. Take note that this will wipe your phone and void your warranty. Regardless, this is the first thing I always do whenever I get a new phone.

Then you flash a custom recovery. TWRP recovery works great on OP phones.

Lastly, you install Magisk v16.0 through TWRP. Don't bother with superSU - it is not compatibile with Oreo on OP5T at the moment.

I don't recommend rooting your phone unless you are the adventurous type. Things can go very wrong and you may soft brick your phone. My OnePlus 5T got stuck in bootloop many times already while I tested out superSU and Magisk but I know what I'm doing... so do this at your own risk.

If you know what are you getting into, you should look at this link for more details. https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/oneplus-5t-unlock-bootloader-flash-twrp-root-nandroid-efs.685403/

Instead of relying on others to do the homework for you, its really not that hard to look through that same few op5t sellers on qoo10 and do the math yourself. And if you actually bothered to read through some of the previous posts, i have already mentioned take Simder as a price gauge as their prices are often the lowest. And the same few folks keep asking about the best deal or cheapest prices for months on as though they are waiting for some freak half price promo to happen.

After install magisk, does the DBS PAYLAH app works?
I can sign in with Mobile number, User ID, Pin, but unable to receive OTP SMS & proceed further into the app.

Thanks for the reply!

After some probing, Magisk really is the culprit all along. I unrooted my phone and the McDelivery app finally worked.

However, I wasn't ready to give up on rooting my phone. I reinstalled Magisk and found a workaround by hiding Magisk from the McDelivery app. Now I can have both root and burger deliveries. I hope they fix superSU for OnePlus 5T soon. I still prefer good old superSU.

Wah, waiting for OP5T to drop price

If you really want to get, better get now or soon. The current price is almost the lowest it can go. $580 for 64gb. If you got follow the pricing for Oneplus 5 last time, export set lowest is around this price or at most slightly cheaper. Price will go up after that.

Anyone using a custom ROM? If so, which do you prefer and suggest? I've been browsing some of the sites and some people suggest going with wither Omni or LineageOS but I heard that face unlock will be disabled?

My imak screen protector is starting to peel already

Not compatible with my spigen slim armour which has a big lip

I can hear some crunching sound when i press the volume rocker, basically it's the adhesive coming apart

I actually have to press harder on the top left of the screen to get it sticking back to the screen, if not the protector prevents my finger input :s22:

Time to get a nillkin tgsp

I bought my OP5 around $500+ but I remember it went down a lot more after that due to OP5T

Never going to happen. SuperSU isn't designed to bypass/hide from SafetyNet unlike Magisk.
