Pros
1. Affordable with high specs like 8gb+256gb and ufs3.0 storage and free case
2. Free screen protector pasted on screen (from factory) and free transparent TPU case! How thoughtful, can literall use it immediately without scratches nor roam to shops in quest of SP and case lol.
3. Magnificient big bright vivid flat screen - love it! I will never buy a curved screen phone
4. Face unlock is eerily fast and reliable, even before I can blink my eyes - blows me out of water
5. In-display fingerprint works surprisingly very well for me. Sooo much faster and accurate than S10+
6. Feels almost stock android: All google apps + 3 bloatwares (yes Netflix is bloatware to me too haha and i can't remove it )
7. Blazing fast performance, no lag when swiping in every applications (at this moment) and play game smooth
8. Drag-and-drop and widget is where android shines! Moving personal music, video, files is a breeze and iphone users really MISS OUT BIG TIME on wdigets! <3
9. 3rd party keyboards works amazing well. Worth a mention if you know how iphone gets crappy, huge and lousy 3rd party kb - cannot find the numbers when you long press the top qwerty buttons / same goes for symbols and can't resize kb to how you want
10. Smart gestures damn awesome. E.g 3 fingers swipe to screenshot, double tap to wake screen, draw V on locked screen toggles on/off the rear light, draw O turns on camera, draw < or > to skip/previous song track etc. Nova launcher Prime is an excellent complementary app that closes the gap of what is not available in OP launcher such as backing up and other gestures. You might not believe it, but I actually use these quick gestures more often than I initially thought I would and these thoughtful little things made me appreciate the overall experience further.
Cons
1. When I plug in the usb-c to charge, there is no sound or notification on screen to tell me it's charging
2. Notification alert not standardized and works really funny across different apps when gaming. Telegram has the best notification with small text on top which won't disrupt your game. Whatsapp has v intrusive pop-up notification smack in the middle during gaming. Line has no notification when gaming, only vibrates.
3. Face unlock doesn't work in pitch dark room - no infrared light sensor
4. When unlocking phone with fingerprint in dark room at night, screen emits a sudden quick bright light that will blind/twitch my eye a little - sth like when taking photo with flash
5. Lack of OnePlus accessories sold in online or offline stores
6. Need to buy extra earphone dongle to fit 3.5mm jack, but can buy at $6+ in lazada
7. Split screen is a little annoying, not intuitive enough
8. No stock calculator widget, I need to ownself download in Playstore
9. No IP rating, but OP says no issue for rain or light splash
10. Screen auto brightness is irregular, sometimes it adjusts the brighness too much or too little v abruptly so i have to adjust it manually to suit my taste
Mixed feelings
Camera is very difficult to explain bc either auto focus isn't fast enough or the shutter speed is a little slow. So I need to hold a second longer or ensure subjects don't move too much to avoid any blurry shots. However if you take time to hold your hand firmly, position, focus, aim, shoot then this camera can produce some good quality images. I believe most people should be similar to me, just turn on camera and auto point-and-shoot to capture the moment anyhow and any ways. Thus, a mixed feeling where I'm not certain if most casual people will be happy about since I can't praise a consistent flagship cam experience but then it isn't that terrible either. Simply put decent average camera. I prefer smartphone to be smart enough to know where to focus quickly and quick to snap just like my previous xr and s7e.
Another mixed feeling is battery life being decent good. Probably my expectation is too high for a 3700mah or perhaps dualsim is taking a toll on battery life.
Last mixed feeling is navigation gesture control not the best but not that bad also, need 1-2 days learning curve to be accurate/efficient in swiping recent apps. Well if you've tried samseng nav gesture, you will know what's far worse than this. iPhone gesture is the best so far which I'm probably being pampered by the gesture fluidity.
ps. if anyone knows how do i fix some of these cons, pls lemme know bc i can't find the fix
