I don't mind paying a $100 more than regular price but anything more than that like the current pricing is just ridiculous man....

Think of it as buying reinsurance. Was told by mister mobile they r authorised reseller n service centre for OnePlus in Singapore. Now they offering 1+1 for 7t pro at $1188. Still cheaper than buying apple care premium. That's $49.50 per month with warranty over 24 months coverage. U don't get that price for apple devices or comparable android premium devices.

So I asked him, Indian set, can change charger to UK pin, 1 year warranty supposedly will be honored by 'Oppo store' at Jurong Point (not yet announced officially). He gave me a personal guarantee that if they don't honor the warranty he will exchange it for a new set, granted no water damage etc. Can deal by next thursday. Want me to pay full price as deposit to guarantee prompt delivery by friday latest.

Thoughts? Nothing on paper all he say only lol.

You make sense, but how useful is the manufacturer's warranty say 1.5 years down the road? Will they just tell you the damage is due to wear and tear as opposed to manufacture defects? And then how you argue with them?

I think OEM service centers will be more willing to honor the warranty just because they have a brand name to uphold. Authorized service center cum reseller already changed a few times in Singapore over the years.

Actually not so much abt the warranty but is abt how useful the phone is to you after 1.5 years down the road. Pixel warranty is also run by third party such as CDTI similarly to OnePlus' case too. As long as there is an authorised service centre, u have support based on manufacturer's terms but just not on your terms only.

Motherboard is not wear and tear for sure similarly to a car engine or ecu but battery is. Have to find out the warranty terms definition and liability coverage. The purpose of the warranty is to protect and limit the manufacturer liability but manufacturer has to provide warranty in some ways under regulatory or competitive requirements.

The biggest cost eaters in a mobile device is the motherboard, camera, display and digitizer board. As long as the warranty covers and inclusive of these major parts, it should be generally ok.

Yeah you're right... The seller seems sincere but I couldn't go through with purchase anyway because my ibanking cannot work. Guess I'll just wait for the qoo10 seller to deliver at end of month
