new battery (can't remember lithium ion or old is cadmium etc) long story short, nowadays battery memory is not a thing, no need do full 8 hour charge, charging technology also change liao. in fact i believe frequent short charge is better than full drain then charge from 0 to 100, nowadays the bad part of rechargeables are the time while they are charging, over night is a no no, unless there is some tech or feature state it gt smart charging. go for short burst
