Haven't read finish the article yet but wtf why cyanogen so ** go and suddenly terminate contract with opo? Because they made a poor quality phone with yellow tint? :s11:

Like that next time no ota cm updates liao ah, left with the oxygen os?
Because Micromax offered them exclusivity in India. Even if not paid now, it will reap dividends in future.

Long story short, yes. If you want something beyond CM12.1S (or whatever Google decides to reveal), then you will need to consider OxygenOS as the official rom....not inclusive of non-official roms of course.

Remember OPO is making OxygenOS mainly for for their OP2 in mind. That is their vested interest in OxygenOS.

Let the battery drain, charge up your phone then decide lo.
Try hold power button only? By right suppose reboot. If nothing then just wait battery die.

There were some pain working with OnePlus that was never mentioned.

The other point is a possible larger market in India than China. India don't have the great Internet Firewall. So they are giving up one bird in hand for another.

Based on the public comments, I think Cyngn has decided to not to cancel OP contract, rather let it continue. Yes Jan 2016, no more CM OTA. i have no idea how this impacts Micromax deal.

Bottom line. Even if there is no more S series build, you can always use CM nightlies. If CM decided to pull the trigger on that, you can wait for another dev to build on AOSP, to create BlissPOP, LiquidSmooth, Vanir, Daleski etc.

Wa...ok this cyanogen ah really...I like their roms like since the very first early days they just started but really ah they damn cocky now. Unhappy with opo a bit then terminate contract. It's not like android is even theirs to begin with! Then they go around acting like some big shot like that.

Then for users who already own opo how? If unlike you said, they decide to stop releasing official firmware after cm12 right now instead of until Jan 2016 then that's like saying f u to all the users, you go download yourself from 3rd parties, too bad.

You'll still get CM13...just without the S. It's not as bad as you think. Even CM12.1 now is pretty stable. And if you think having the S means stability, then you are dead wrong.

Cm11s only had a special lock screen and a different camera app from normal cm11.

Looks like for cm12s, the lock screen seems to be the same as the nightly... So probably only the camera app is the differentiating factor.

Just download the lenovo supercam apk. It's works so much better. Don't think it can work on lollipop though :(

I've not compared CM11 to CM11S, so that's not really a valid base to compare.

But as of NOW, CM11S/OxygenOS radio/modem perform more stable than CM12/CM12.1 for me. Less signal drops, faster to regain signal. That's in my area where LTE signal is weak. Otherwise, CM12/CM12.1 is pretty much better in other aspects. OxygenOS is rather stable, and lacks a lot of CM features - good for those who like stock Android in Nexus devices.

The CameraNext can be sideloaded, works fine on normal CM roms. There's even a hacked version that works better iirc.

The problem with camera next on cm11 nightly is that there's a bug where the photo turns up with a line in the middle if you take a shot in dark places and turn on the flash. Only the camera next version from cm11s works without problem iirc.

Sideloading the apk on a cm12 rom will also not work 100% because panorama doesn't work due to a missing lib file. However if you are rooted, then you can flash a modded camera next version which has the panorama working.

Huh? I thought the bug was present on CM11S in the first place? It's still there on CM12, gone on OxygenOS.

Hey, if you're on CM12, you're pretty much rooted, right?

Hey, if you're on CM12, you're pretty much rooted, right?

My mistake, the bug exists on cm11 whether s or not, as long it's a 3rd party camera app. However using camera next while using cm11S should be ok, except the bug still exists for 3rd party apps. I think some 3rd party managed to hack the problem away last time, but I didn't use it anyway.
This is due to the camera firmware in OPO not playing nice with 3rd party camera apps except the stock cameranext.

Looks like OP fixed it in OxygenOS.

So we'll see what camera they include in CM12S.

You can install CM12 without root, so some people might just want that and just sideload the camera next apk. But yeah people on CM12 probably want root as well.

you guys think I should get a 2nd hand opo or a note 3 for a temporary phone till end of the year? I really can't decide. Opo has good hardware and I can always flash any roms I want but this cm ethics put me off a little bit.

Note 3 has larger screen size and a ir blaster which I wanna use for my fan lol. But the burn in issues and the fact it's a 2013 phone kinda annoys me.

Some help please thank you! :D

To put it bluntly, don't care about their ethics lah. As long as it works fine, who cares? It's not like you're going to see their CEO's face everytime u use your phone.

But it's not like the Note 3 is a very slow phone - Apr till end of year not that long to go anyway....go for whichever choice saves you money - unless you are loaded then I'm sorry. :D
