looks like you also order liao, same as me!
i think there's a few avenue of approach. Because the phone doesnt come the next day, we can still decided if u want to use the phone or not.

Like myself, i might be selling it off BNIB after the views shared by the bros and sis here. Not so much of the value thing.. but i think the other major china brands wont hold its value well as well..

Like, 1 year later OPPO and oneplus value shouldnt be so much of a difference right? (the amount it depreciates)
honestly if u want a phone that holds resale value then you should get an iphone. only iphone can hold value as apple is the one that controls the yearly release and u will always have sheep rushing to buy it.

android phones the value depreciate very fast one as the specs all change very fast. now snapdragon 801, end of year 805, early next year 810, late next year 815. and main problem is multiple companies are churning out phones throughout the year

OnePlus value sld hold firm in the immediate future(maybe 2-3months) mainly becuz of demand and availability. Demand high and availability low, seller can dictate the price. For Oppo's case, the demand is so-so only and probably due to the previous flash sales conducted by Lazada, at one point the market was flooded with brand new and used sets, driving down the selling price for the phone. The depreciation of value for Oppo phones is pretty drastic. Today you buy brand new for $700, next day you sell you make a least $100 loss. But say if you are talking about 1 year later, I think definitely no value even if in prestige condition since by then much better models will be available in the market.

Personally i feel that if the phone you receive has no issues whatsoever, unless you feel you need to make a small profit out of selling the phone, why not just keep it for personally use. Nowadays telco subsidies for contracted phones is getting pathetic unless you are on higher tier plans. Its really pointless getting bound by a 2 year contract just to "enjoy" a small discount upfront on phone prices. Not to mention telcos are regularly shifting the goalposts by imposing new charges for their services. I much rather buy off contract phone so that i am free of any contract obligations.

Agree with ur thinking. Used to buy phones strictly on contract. Not anymore :s13:

if i'm rooted will ota break root?

Most likely need to flash supersu again to get back root.

Anyway the ota zip doesn't work for me on TWRP. Probably because I have some mods on my CM11S. Going to try another zip I found on XDA made by someone. Will post link after I test it.

Edit: Here's the XDA post with link of a modified OTA zip for those who have problem installing the signed OTA zip.

My CM11S had franco kernel and a mod for smooth scrolling, so the signed OTA couldn't flash. Used the modified zip and installed successfully. Now running 4.4.4 :D

Update the OTA by putting the .zip into the internal storage and flash install via stock recovery, so far so good. Love the OTA, the display is way better!
