I bought half my current build off Carousell and was fortunate to encounter legit sellers. However it's also full of bad eggs. I suggest getting only parts with full original proof of purchase and warranty documents.

If your items are eligible for free shipping to Singapore, Amazon is great for avoiding the insane local price gouging on RAM, PSUs, etc.. and (before the mining craze hit) also GPUs.

edit: doesn't hurt to check Lazada as well, sometimes local retailers run deep discounts for a day or two. Most recently I got a brand new TP-link T6E for 40sgd. Free shipping if you can wait a little while.

forgot to add if you buy from overseas (e.g. Amazon), break your loot into separate shipments worth less than 400SGD each, whenever possible.

This is because you will be liable to pay taxes (7% GST) on inbound shipments that are worth over 400SGD, regardless of whether the price paid for the item includes overseas taxes.

So, for more expensive stuff like high-end GPUs, factor in the 7% GST when comparing online prices from overseas sellers, vs. local sellers/retailers.

No point buying from sls to be honest. shops are so stingy with the discounts, (sorry to shop owners but it is true).

Those SLS shops shld reconsider entering the e-commerce platform to improve their sales. Perhaps change their shop to collection point and allocate a small area for walk in customers. But staff overhead may need to be reduced which is a bad thing for some.

i should also mention shops are less transparent, you can see the pricelist.. everything write offer/ask.. very annoying. What's the point of pricelist without the price.. seems fishy af.
