For how long before this arrives in SG?

Great cast. Good to see Tom in his element as a brooding character. John Hurt and Tilda FTW!

Having been on a mini Jim Jarmusch marathon recently (Stranger Than Paradise, Broken Flowers, Only Lovers Left Alive), I can say this -

1) Jarmusch has a ruthless way of jump-cutting from scene to scene without any preamble or connection in between, with utter disregard for any conventions relating to time and space. I like that. His absurdist style is also quite evident in Coffee & Cigarettes, which is a series of vignettes about famous people sharing nicotine and caffeine.

2) Jarmusch really likes fading to black for some reason - seldom see that nowadays.

3) His films do not have any particularly memorable scenes (we could well say that the film is one long scene). Just as well that he didn't feel the need for any.

4) Like that other, erm, auteur, Wes Anderson, his characters do not engage in those overly dramatic emotional displays (Re: Bill Murray's stoic face in all of his movies nowadays) method acting blahblahblah that I love to hate so much. No academy award contenders for best actor there.

5) So glad that Hiddleston replaced Fassbender prior to shooting. Fassbender just won't have looked as convincing.

Now to finish Coffee & Cigarettes (only made it as far as Iggy the last time) before watching Dead Man next . . .
