SPWS > OEM
1. Generally cheaper, enjoy High & low rates
2. Contract-less, can opt for OEM offers anytime

OEM < SPWS
-Fixed rates, cannot enjoy lowest.
-Fixed contract
-Cannot choose when to re-contract at the best timing.

USEP spikes?
Generally cheaper and stable.....
Even if this do happen, savings > losses. Then u can just opt for other OEM anytime.

AMI meter?
No1 can tell u this answer. The good thing about AMI is can monitor electricity from time to time and give accurate reading. The best option is wait for SP provide free routine installation. The best meter is analogue meter...run slower.

e.g
7. 3jan- 3feb, 55.64/368.19=0.1511
OEM 0.168 (could be cheaper if stack with cc)
SPWS 0.151
Differences > $6.26 saving per month

dont think too much lah. :)

sp wholesale bill(non AMI);

7. 3jan- 3feb, 55.64/368.19=0.1511
6. 4dec- 2jan21, 49.28/329.22=0.1497
5. 2nov- 3dec, 63.34/397.93=0.1592
4. 4oct- 1nov, 44.76/319.99=0.1399
3. 3sep- 3oct, 47.85/340.5=0.1405
2. 4aug- 2sep, 39.5/282.04=0.1401
1. 18jul- 3aug, 27.2/206.15=0.1319 per kwh w/gst.

My family's monthly average is about 350kWh, my 24 months contract is ending in slightly over a month.

How do I go back to SPWS? Another alternative is take up another 24 months contract but which provider has the best rate?

Wow, thanks for the info.

Think mine's AMI meter but for a family usage of 350kWh, is there a big difference in SPWS or OEM?

I've checked out prices from some OEMs for 2 year plans, most of them are 17.6x cents after GST.

yes, my area was free upgraded with the new ami meter 2 years ago, but from all my previous data before and after change, i do not see any difference in my consumption kwh.

meaning the very old analog meter was just as accurate as the latest hi tech ami meter.

u need to calculate together with the bill rebate given (oem), then spws (peak/non peak)

the only pro about OEM is when the user play with their ref program, they can get their electricity for free.

Ok removed. I didn't know that's not allowed.

So anyone facing the issue below?

Senoko users, are you able to view your referral details on your Refer & Earn page? I'm seeing multiple "Someone signed up with your referral code!" without any other constructive details on that page. Is it the same for you?

like that good mah.

I've earned $660 of rebates from union power due to Referral rewards. Cannot used finish so I've no choice but to continue staying with Union Power.

I am wondering if it will be beneficial to remain on analog meter while on sp wholesale.

Like if the block has few people wfh while I am. With analog meter, the consumption allocation will be based on the block or neighborhood average right?

Without AMI, Consumption based on national average i.e total demand which includes business, industrial etc (not neighbourhood) on the halfhourly basis.

Thus if one 0 consumption during surge, he will subsidize others usage by paying the average for the surge.
If consumed alot, subsidized by others not using.
Exactly the same like hospitalisation insurance policy and if many making claims will further push up the premiums for everyone

if u ask me, yes safer to remain on analogue for most haha. digitalise with AMI will be paying exactly for how much or when do u use, of which one won't even know when's the surge pricing happening beforehand

found ur answer....... :)

Thanks man. I spoke to the CS and the reply was slightly different. If I'm not wrong/recall correctly, what the CS tell me is this:

When originally switch from SP to Ohm, no change in deposit (lets call this deposit 1 which was paid way back when BTO) because SP handle the billing and deposit 1 on behalf of Ohm.

When switch from Ohm to SP WHOLESALE, they need another deposit (deposit 2). As for deposit 1, they will retain a portion of it for water & gas? and remainder of deposit 1 is used to offset february bill.

Regardless I went ahead and paid another $65.

Renewal for Geneco not worth it?

I am thinking whether to renew with Geneco. No referral perks previously and all so not sure if it is worth to stay.

Expect more surge pricing April to August because of overall higher national consumption.

Last year’s trend was lower because of COVID and cooler weather during those months. Offices and buildings were tapering usage.

This is what I mean by penny wise and pound foolish and why I am switching back to OEM from SPWS.

https://www.ft.com/content/0e746280-e72c-4087-9c0d-df2a7af82b77

In Burleson, a suburb of Fort Worth, Valerie Williams has been charged more than $6,000 by her electricity retailer Griddy to power her 1,400 sq ft home over the past few days. As the storm approached, Griddy told its customers to switch to more typical fixed-rate plans from other providers, but not everyone did, since there was little indication of just how extreme prices would become.

Griddy was charging her credit card multiple times a day, Williams said. She struggled to find a new provider during the crisis before finally identifying one that would switch her service on Friday.*

“I’m guessing it will be close to $7,000 by the time we get moved,” she said of her bill. Griddy did not respond to requests for comment.

I know. But that is the thing right? It snowed in Texas, once in 100 years. Covid hit us once in 100 years. A lot of things happen very rarely. But somehow our generation is very unlucky that it seems to happen to us. Why take the risk though?

I hope you guys are following what is happening in the US:
https://twitter.com/SullyCNBC/status/1361689737946398720

Wholesale electricity has risks. I was on SP Wholesale for the last fews months. But I dont want to be penny wise pound foolish. I am moving to fixed price OEM tomorrow.
Aiyo... if this happens to sg, i can tell u many electricity retailers will be hit the hardest and may even go bankrupt.
