Estella83 whats your usual usage? 50 kwh is a small difference for July 2018 and July 2019 if monthly average is above 700kwh, but 50kwh is a big difference if your monthly average is 200kwh.
According to SP stats national average increase around middle of the year. Considering 66% hasn’t switched. Lets give an (largely inaccurate) estimate that 25% of the 34% switchers use more electricity cos cheaper. Thats just 8.5% far from being significant enough to cause overall national average increase.
I personally feel very very little would use more cos cheaper. Just IMHO.
Reason for national average increase should be combination of 1) largely the hotter months reason from SP, 2) the handful who use more cos cheaper, 3) the even smaller handful of high usage households who use more cos they got the free one month promo (really insignificant small group), 4) any other reasons you guys can think of.
So most complaints of increase should fall in reason 1) if we use probability. Then again I wonder if may-august 2019 is hotter and drier than may-august 2018. That could also contribute to escalated figures. Just random musings of possibilities, I didn’t check the temperatures.
