Hi all,

first time posting here :x

So as per title, i am planning a trip to Osaka (first time) this coming April 2017.

I use skyscanner>direct flights only but manage to find only Jetstar, which has the best deal and timing. Is this normal? Or should i wait abit longer for better deals?

Thanks.

Why end April? Should target early April for Sakura, no?

Maybe that's the only time TS has available or is going there for an event at that time. People go to Japan for more than sakura and koyo!

TS for direct flights you are pretty much limited to Singapore Airlines. I believe Jetstar connects via TPE, so I'm surprised you got that as an option. SQ has good deals to Japan but if you are looking for sub $600 options then you'll have to fly with stopovers. So far Thai Airways and Malaysia Airlines seem to offer excellent deals, you can see what pp are paying in the sticky airline promo thread up top.

Ok let's perhaps clear up some terminology....

Non-stop to Osaka, only Singapore Airlines
Direct flight (same plane throughout), includes Jetstar. But Jetstar does not fly non-stop, plane stops in Taipei.

All other airlines you take to Osaka will involve a change of planes.

Happy to learn of more non-stop or direct flights from Singapore to Osaka

Correct. Check the sector on Jetstar's website directly, it will list the stopover in TPE. Flight time to Osaka is only 6+hrs, so this is not a non-stop though because it is the same plane the total travel time will be less than other airlines where you have to change planes.

That's why I say direct is not equal to non-stop, so if you want non-stop you only have SQ to choose from.

3K723, it will stop at Taipei for 50 to 55mins.
If u notice, beside ur flight destination timing there's 1stop (2 aeroplane tail icon) with a ?
When u click on it, it will show u where they stop before heading to osaka and the transit timing.
For 22 april 2017, only 15:45pm flight 3K695 transit Hong Kong and need change of aircraft whereby the 3 earlier flight will transit Taipei using same aircraft.

If JAL or ANA had non-stops it would only have been seasonal, but as their hub is in Tokyo, it is not as efficient a business model for them to fly direct between Singapore and another Japanese airport. They have a strong domestic network to help pax connect, SQ does not. This is why SQ flies non-stop to other cities as well, like Nagoya and Fukuoka, and even Chitose on a seasonal basis.
