I'm planning to go Osaka from 31 aug to 8 sep, how much money should I bring there? Is public transport easy to use?
Need to know more details before we can give u answers since it's too vague now.
- which places are u intending to visit? Because some places like themeparks (eg. universal studios with expensive admission fees) or shopping places where u would tend to spend more will require more spending money than if you are just planning to visit temples/shrines and sightsee.
- depending on where you are planning to visit, you might need more planning for your transportation before your trip. If you are just visiting Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, Kobe, then I don't think u will need to spend too much on transportation since the subways and trains will probably be about S$10 to S$25 per day...depending on where u go.
Use
hyperdia website to help you plan train journeys. It will show you train timings, fares, duration, where to transfer trains...etc...
Many Japanese don't really speak much English, so I would advise you to plan your train journeys before you go to Japan. Don't wait until u arrive at Japan already then start to stare at the complex train maps and try to figure out how to go to the places.
For me, since I don't really shop much, just some souvenirs, I usually bring about S$100 worth of Japanese yen in cash for per day of my trip for expenses (food, transportation, souvenirs, admission fees...). When my cash starts to run low, I'll just use credit card to pay for my food at restaurants.
