If you are going from Kyoto station to Arashiyama, take JR Sagano line from Kyoto station to JR SagaArashiyama station. The bamboo grove is about 10mins walk away. Which month is your trip? If it's not during winter months, then you can also try taking the scenic train too (scenic train's station located next to JR SagaArashiyama station).
