Overclocking AmD Ryzen 1700X performance thread.

I actually may be able to hit 4ghz but the temps really putting me away.

75degC is for 3.9ghz 1.375v on r1 ulti cooler. Good enough for me.

If really need to go for 4ghz i think i probably need a min aio lol. Probably something large surface area like a 360mm radiator to cool it down.

Average chip which is better than mine.

I agree. Why squeeze every last drop out of the CPU, the cost in voltage, heat and stress gets higher and higher and just for another 100MHz which you would never notice in your day to day tasks.

Wah I bought cryorig r1 universal but waiting for bracket. Was hoping to hit 4ghz with it hahaha looks like not possible with this cooler.

I am stable with stock cooler at 3.6 and auto voltage though.
3.7ghz with 1.21v but will overheat and crash

If you oc 1700 to 3.8ghz. It becomes effectively a 1700x?

Last thing on my own stability test is video work since photo work and gaming is good to go.

Weekends are coming means can try OCing. Maybe ram first see how high I can hit than move on to CPU.

Tested 3.9Ghz Cinebench scoring 1706 marks and stress tested 3DMK TimeSpy with High End Graphic card Aorus 1080GTX and running as smooth as silk with this Aorus Ax370 - Gaming 5 motherboard.

The temps on 1700x and 1800x are higher by 20° . So seeing 80+ is actually 60+ which is acceptable.

Not an easy task to Overclock memory speed especially with endless
Booting and crashing to find an ultimate CpU speed with Ram speed.
Is very easy just to boot up and set optimised default.

Here it is at 3200MHz Memory speed at CL18 at 3.7Ghz for R7 1700X.
You have to find your own, not every chip is the same.
This chip 1700X does not do well above 3.8Ghz for 3200Mhz memory speed.
3.7Ghz is a sweet spot for 3200Mhz memory speed.

Patience is the key word here...more tweaking maybe but...the chip gonna returned back to A.. finally I did it at 3200MHz memory speed

Tighten memory timing further does not mean you get better score but Cinebench points dropped by 68 pts

Re-run again after tightening timing again it turns out to better off gaining a few more points in **.

I have an ASRock X370 Killer Motherboard with latest 2.00 BIOS.
Replace previous Corsair Vengence LPX 3000C15 RAM [CMK16GX4M2B3000C15] with Corsair Vengence LED 3200C16 RAM 2x8GB sticks [CMU16GX4M2C3200C16].

Previously, the LPX 3000C15 Ram couldn't go above 2400C14.
This new LED 3200C16 can reach 2933 with C16 timings but still not able to clock at 3200. 2933 is not too bad, happy with it.

Overclocked my R7 1700X to 3.9 Ghz @ 1.35V stable.

Here are the results for Cinebench and CPU-Z.

Very similar results to your 3.9ghz 1700X for Cinebench.

I am currently using simple AIO ID-Cooling Frostflow 240L with included fans...
Idle temperature is at 50°C.
Stress with AIDA64 for 10 mins, the temperature is at 90°C.

These numbers are before +20°C offsets

Please read carefully and thoroughly, silicon lottery play a part too
Maintain and sustain using water-cooling system is advisable.
