Looking for help and opinions. I got offered to study in australia but the fees are too expensive there. So I thought of getting a pr there to have lower course fees. But is that possible? (FYI: I don't have any family member there nor have I ever lived there) Do I have to give up my Singapore citizenship?

No. They offered you based on your status of an international student. Getting a PR as a student without any relatives in auatralia is out of the question. Not sure why you applied for overseas uni despite/before knowing that the fees are expensive.

tbh, there is not much difference in cost between international and australian student. they pay like 3k+ for each subject while international student pay 4k+. giving up sg citizenship for lower fees sounds ridiculous. if die die want to come here even though expensive, only way to save is to cook ur own meal and live in a house with a lot of ppl sharing the toilet

Hey there, hate to say it but its impossible.

You don't give up your Singapore citizenship.

You have to work for a few yrs in Australia or have a relative living there, if not you can't apply for pr there.

The recent visa changes make it a lot harder to get pr in Australia.

The best bet you have is to work and save up now,if you are intent on studying abroad. I guess it really boils down to how much you want it

You think PR suka suka give one?

I think you have to stay there for quite a period of time before they will give and its not definite...
There are other requirements to meet too definitely

Looks like you cant enter a Local Uni too

If thats the case why not go work? then maybe can try SUSS for their part time degrees?

What's your budget? Lower fees doesn't help if you don't understand how much can you afford.

Giving up your currently citizenship does not automatically grant you PR or citizenship to another. The world does not function this way.
Did you read up or do simple google? If u so lazy not sure how you can survive if u are actually there

Did you talk to your family b4 looking into this matter? A lot of rich ppl do it doesn't imply u can do it too!

It's not easy getting a PR there and I would advice you to enrol into local uni. But then again why did you apply for Australian uni knowing your financial status...?

ANU is quite a recognised school.

However, it is impossible for you to get a PR just to get a subsidised fee. The immigration personnel will have to see your worth and what you can contribute to the country before even considering your application. If you were to apply now, you're basically an unskilled labour without a degree in their eyes, unless you can prove them wrong. My friend got her PR only after graduating with a law degree there. They need to see what you can contribute to the society.

Studying overseas can be a huge burden financially. You'll need to really think about it before committing yourself to anything. Talk to the financial people there. Discuss with your parents. If they are able to sponsor you to study overseas, consider working part-time there as they allow people on long-term student visas to work. Don't quote me on this, you might not need to pay tax yet when you're working part-time as a student.
