I have been running without a page file for 2 years ever since I upgrade my 4GB RAM total to faster 8GB RAM total.

However recently, my PC would hang as the boot progresses into my wallpaper or on my first IE launch or first youtube video launch.

So is a pagefile necessary with 8GB RAM? Is my Ripjaw Ram experiencing failure hence requiring a page file now? My problem goes away if I add a pagefile now.

I will not rule that out. But your RAM won't fail without a paging file. Many will argue nowadays paging file being unnecessary with RAM capacity high enough but for me i just set a symbolic small amount, i.e. 128MB, for the sole purpose of eliminating any possibly of system error with the absence of paging file. 128MB isn't too much of a nuisance to be considered for space wastage isn't it?

Having spent money on a rather fast RAM 2 years ago (RipjawsX 1600MHz CL7-8-7-24-2N) I would rather use my excess RAM to do any page or cache. Will try ur advice to slowly decrease my page file, until I don't get and crashes.

You can also choose to create a small RAM disk (a disk drive partition created from your actual RAM) and put the paging file there instead.
