Still net loss. Should ask the 'Einstein-looking CEO why his operating expenses are so high, LOL:
In the financial statements, it just mentioned about increase and decrease of activities but little explanation on why the decision has been made on the so-called 'sales and marketing' function.
Just Nov last yr it was trading at $22, now plunge to only less than $13.
It is still a highly secretive and mysterious company, so mysterious that unless it start to move towards real profitability, investors will not give it much confidence during such a bearish climate.

Why is he sounding so profound?
Possible reasons :

" Karp earned a bachelor's degree from
Haverford College (
Haverford, Pennsylvania) in 1989, a
juris doctor (JD) degree from
Stanford University in 1992, and a
Dr. phil. degree in neoclassical social theory from Goethe University (Frankfurt, Germany) in 2002.[9][3][4] Karp's doctoral thesis, supervised by Karola Brede, was titled "Aggression in der Lebenswelt: Die Erweiterung des Parsonsschen Konzepts der Aggression durch die Beschreibung des Zusammenhangs von Jargon, Aggression und Kultur", which means "Aggression in the life-world: The extension of
Parsons' concept of aggression by describing the connection between jargon, aggression, and culture."
[10] "
" Karp has described himself as a socialist
[17] and a progressive, and said he voted for Hillary Clinton"
" He is described as a wellness fanatic who swims, skis cross country, practices
Qigong meditation and martial arts, and keeps Tai Chi swords in his offices "

Could be a cult, a sharp contrast from Tesla's work culture. (from Glassdoor reviews):
" You will say goodbye to balance. In work (you will work harder than you ever have). In life (you will have little to none). In standards (you will hold yourself to the highest).
You will not be afforded the opportunity to coast.
You will not have your hand held.
You will be expected to produce results. Again and again. Project after project.
There will be times when you are physically and mentally exhausted when working something major, and you will want to throw in the towel - but you will look around and see that everyone else is feeling the same way - and you will either choose to press forward because you think what you're accomplishing is worth it, or you will reach for the white flag. See above about latitude of choice.
A small group of individuals will recognize these points as the price of admission into something greater than themselves.
here is a cult checklist:
- (yes) The group displays excessively zealous and unquestioning commitment to its leader and (whether he is alive or dead) regards his belief system, ideology, and practices as the Truth, as law.
- (yes) Questioning, doubt, and dissent are discouraged or even punished.
- (yes, debilitating work routines) Mind-altering practices (such as meditation, chanting, speaking in tongues, denunciation sessions, and debilitating work routines) are used in excess and serve to suppress doubts about the group and its leader(s).
- (no) The leadership dictates, sometimes in great detail, how members should think, act, and feel (for example, members must get permission to date, change jobs, marryor leaders prescribe what types of clothes to wear, where to live, whether or not to have children, how to discipline children, and so forth).
- (yes) The group is elitist, claiming a special, exalted status for itself, its leader(s) and members (for example, the leader is considered the Messiah, a special being, an avataror the group and/or the leader is on a special mission to save humanity).
- (yes) The group has a polarized us-versus-them mentality, which may cause conflict with the wider society.
- (yes) The leader is not accountable to any authorities (unlike, for example, teachers, military commanders or ministers, priests, monks, and rabbis of mainstream religious denominations).
- (yes) The group teaches or implies that its supposedly exalted ends justify whatever means it deems necessary. This may result in members' participating in behaviors or activities they would have considered reprehensible or unethical before joining the group (for example, lying to family or friends, or collecting money for bogus charities).
- (yes) The leadership induces feelings of shame and/or guilt in order to influence and/or control members. Often, this is done through peer pressure and subtle forms of persuasion.
- (yes, if you have “no life” this is being done) Subservience to the leader or group requires members to cut ties with family and friends, and radically alter the personal goals and activities they had before joining the group.
- (no) The group is preoccupied with bringing in new members.
- (yes) The group is preoccupied with making money.
- (yes) Members are expected to devote inordinate amounts of time to the group and group-related activities.
- (no) Members are encouraged or required to live and/or socialize only with other group members.
- (yes) The most loyal members (true believers) feel there can be no life outside the context of the group. They believe there is no other way to be, and often fear reprisals to themselves or others if they leave (or even consider leaving) the group. "
