Panasonic Lumix gm1

Hi all,

I am currently looking for a camera and the Panasonic lumix gm1 has caught my eye.

Reading through most of the forums, it has been mentioned that one of the draw back is the low battery life. Would like to check if there are any feedback from any users in the forum on this model?

Would the Sony RX100 Mk II be a good alternative too? TIA

Hi, the GM1 does have a relatively short battery life. However with the current offer there will be an additional battery included in it. Being a micro 4/3 system there is a huge array of lenses to choose from olympus and panasonic.

Both cameras you shortlisted is impressive, I personally like both of them. It will be a tough decision to make, but will not go wrong with either one.

You might want to take a look at the Sony RX100 MK-III if you need an in-built electronic viewfinder and it has a constant aperture throughout the lens focal length.

I can take about 300+ photos with my GM1
based on my usage, I never had to change battery
usually can last the whole day and charge when i get home/back to hotel if overseas.

GM1 is a mirrorless camera but the RX100 is a semi-pro
Main differences is the ability to change lens and bigger sensor for the GM1.

Alot of people buy mirrorless camera but stick to the kit lens allll the way until they buy the next camera

while for me, I been changing cameras but using back the same lens


So it is up to you, whether you just want a camera or you want a "system"? Spending money to buy great lens and take great pictures

You can get the camera from popular places like MS color, SLR Revolution, Alan Photo, etc etc

Night scenes depends on your lens too
i'm using a 20mm f1.7 prime lens and it is superb. I can take night pictures without the shutter slowing down

I'm not sure about the kit len's capabilities as I sold it off very soon after i got it.
