Not true. Saudi Arabia is a staunch ally of the United States. 15 of the 19 Sept 11 hijackers were Saudis, yet the US government never lay a finger on the Saud family.

Newsweek and times magazine mentioned that many clerics in Saudi Arabia is anti US. The govt allows this as the govt depends on these clerics on their legitimacy.

But of cos, not all muslim are terrorist.

u are the one who is sweepingly classifying here.

I'm pointing out there is no one single event to link anyone as self-radicalised individuals.

most moderate Muslims believe in jihad that is self-struggle and that secularism is the proper way.

Yes, I agree. But they may have certain tots that may seems to be self-radicalised...

not jihad that is strapping bombs on oneself and blowing it up in a shopping centre to prove a point.

Thats why I said the "Holy way is not all about killing people..."

I would think that an individuals can sympathise with what is happening in Palestine but to decalre "I want to join Hamas and kill all the jews" is another thing altogether right?

So what is the tipping point? I asked for a check list so that families can know what to look out for...

one is radicalised BEFORE learning how to make bombs, undergoing training and becoming a terrorist.

Radicalised to be what?

Also, how does having certain sentiments means they broke the law, since the law never "outlaw" these thoughts?

I am talking about radicalised and you want to label them as terrorist. Do we investigate radicalised people to see if they are becoming terrorist or we wait for them to become one??

This thread talks about terrorist... Also self radicalised terrorist... otherwise, self-radicalised what?

I think of radicalised individuals as pre-cursors to the JI six who were detained under ISA. I did not see SDP speaking out for the JI six. So why a fuss over this case?

In thats people are mistaken, I am not connected to SDP...

You might want to put this down to SDP making noise... I merely want to point out that these people may be arrested for "thought crime", when these thoughts themselves are not crimes...

Newsweek and Times should thank the Saud family for pricing OPEC oil in US dollars, I am sure the US government can tolerate a few occasional out burst.

We all knew what happen to Shah Pahlavi of Iran, when the Carter administration withdrew US government support of his regime.

Am surprised by the Iran comment. I tot the regime falls inspite of US support...

Thanks for stating the obvious to me.

I read in Straits Times that the support from the Malay community was the deciding factor in winning Aljunied GRC in 2006 general elections.

What do you think is the sentiment of the Malay community on the ground this coming election?

At last, somebody who knows what I'm talking about.

The modern malays are pro-PAP. Don't ask me to explain how coz I'm not good at articulating my thoughts. Just call it my gut feelings.

Personally, I'm likely to vote PAP too coz the alternative is simply rubbish. It's against my religion to vote a monkey into office when there's a candidate who will be better for the people. It's a community-first thingy.

Your number of malay friends don't hold a candle to mine. :s13:

I work in an organisation where the 100 odd people there are almost all malays. I also serve at masjids which are malay enclaves.

Anyhow, we're talking about that article in the OP. It's targeted audience? The malays.

Btw, ORZ? WHat's that?
100+ Malays in your workplace? Must be that Mais organization right?

I think MIWs will be very happy to know that.

when we talk about TRUE terrorists, we are talking about those guys that knifed and gunned down tourists visiting an egyptian temple or something of a similar nature, outside of war. this got nothing to do with white terror, or lack of democracy.

ironically, whenever "true terrorists", they are usually based on personal interpretation and is somewhat distorted. the very basis of insecurity results in the need of reinforced words like "true".

almost always the guy who keep hanging the word "truth" by his mouth all the time is the lier, and a very bad one too.
