Usually a few reasons. 1 is they not qualified to buy but appealing to HDB. If they successful then they Huat ultra big. If they rejected then the unit is a bounced unit and 5% is refunded. 2. Divorced. 3. Decided not to get married. 4. Loan cannot get (bridging loan etc or borderline case). 5. Tio Toto then decided to forfeit and buy landed. So got both sides of the coin. I know most ppl will clap when someone’s purchase doesn’t go through.

Assuming if I order a EC, from build till TOP maybe tio toto then I buy landed liao. Forfeit $60k sup sup water. Time > money.
