Hi, recently my rig has this problem of "not enough memory" pop-ups when I was playing FB games and opening a number of chrome tabs like youtube together. This happens also when I try to play games with chrome open in the background.

Sometimes, the screen will just blackout and comes back after a min or so.

Other than that, my rig still working fine with my usage of watching youtube videos, net surfing, not-hardcore gaming, and video encoding (seldom)

Is this a problem with my GPU or not enough memory?

I was thinking of upgrading my GPU but unsure if my Mobo can handle it? Also, I am using 8GB DDR3 ram and not sure if it's worth it to switch to DDR4 ram as it will require me to change my mobo as well

Need advice. Thanks

I would recommend you to try reformatting your comp first to see if problem go away. Your specs on the right (if accurate) is still quite power de leh. I got lower specs than you (but a 1070 instead) still can play pubg no problem. Yours play FB games only shouldn be a problem at all. Is it you open alot of tabs?

Chrome is a memory hog with multiple tabs open. You can add another 8GB, should be around $50 to $60 used.

Your rig is still quite good and can take a GPU upgrade with no problem. However, your present GPU is sufficient for your requirements. In any case, changing the GPU will not resolve your memory issues.

It's odd that opening 2 or 3 tabs will give insufficient memory error, since 8GB of RAM is enough for this task.

You should also check whether there are any other background programs or processes running at the same time.

I am running 64-bit... and when I check my task manager and check performance... surprised to see my memory is always 40-50% used up when idle mode.. and my cpu only abt 1-2% used

Firefox uses more memory than chrome accrording to task manager, tested many times so quite confirmed.

However, Firefox gives me a better user experience than chrome. At times when I open chrome, tabs can see loading with blank webpages but opening Firefox at same time going to same website, Firefox is able to load without a problem.
