Since reit etf dropping, was thinking if good idea to buy more.

No la, I know COI is in usd, just curious any difference between COI and CFA. If COI giving out dividends, does it mean those holding CFA also get?

Nobody will know the trajectory of share price. that's why people suggest DCA...

Important to look at the track record of companies. Whether they are able to pay their dividends consistently and are able to keep growing their dividends.

Omg why u go dig up a decade old thread ?

Why would you want to effect this transfer (from FSM to CDP)?

To my understanding, buying via FSM platform has an overall cheaper transaction cost, no?

Wouldn’t all counters purchase via FSM platform also appear in the monthly CDP consolidated statement? Anyone can confirm this?)

No.

That is why I avoid brokerages like IB SG and FSM because whatever securities you bought through these non-bank brokers, the custodian is the broker and not CDP (even for Singapore listed stocks).

For Singapore listed stocks, always better to keep them in CDP. CDP is created for a reason!

Meaning?

So if I buy a local counter Thru FSM platform, would I see this securities on my monthly CDP statement?

commission is a big diff though

but that being said. DBS Vickers (CDP) cost $10 min same as FSM.

but IB and Tiger cheaper if not wrong.

I see, it is the issue of ownership to the purchased securities - but if it is a small amount, I guess that’s a calculated risks.

Once you have bought, custodian is with say FSM or IB SG, these are Brokers (not banks) - And if accumulate over the years to big sum, can you sleep safely at night? You not afraid like Pan-Electric crisis? :s13:

If you keep for long-term for years, what is that commission of additional $10 or 20 per transaction? =:p

Not "ownership" but "custodianship". You are the owner of the shares, but these shares are kept with IB SG or FSM (and we call them "custodian" of your shares).
Because Brokerages do not have the same high-level scrutiny and audit and regulation as banks, so they are perceived to be much less safe than banks.
CDP is different because it is held by quasi-Gov body, so it is considered the safest of all!

During Pan-Electric crisis, many people risked losing all their shares and money placed with Brokerages because of Brokerages collapsed.

I see, it is the issue of ownership to the purchased securities - but if it is a small amount, I guess that’s a calculated risks.
