There are various threads on building passive income, but most threads didnt really touch on how much passive income they generate, at what stage of life and what are their aims.

Here's mine to start the ball rolling:

2015 (Jul - Dec) - $244
2016 - $1,517
2017 - $2,694
2018 - $5,245

Slightly more than half came from stock dividends while the rest are from high-interest saving acc (e.g. maxigain, dbs ma)

For 2019, I am expecting 7k or more in passive income which should cover part of my necessary spending such as tax, insurance, hp bills and transport.

Please feel free to share your passive income journey. Btw, for those who are earning rental income, please deduct the mortgage, maintenance, misc fees from the computation.

I started tracking my dividends and bond coupon payments in 2016, but excluded CPF interest.

My passive income is from stocks, bonds, ETFs. Passive income from property is not for me because of ABSD and my income tax bracket means I'll pay more tax on rental income

For this year, I'll start noting down the CPF interest collected for 2018 once CPF updates it.

using back of envelope calculation

the 5.2k in 2018 was generated from about 118k cash earning 2.15% from maxigain and dbs ma

as well as 50k stock earning about 5.3% div yield

Rental u need to deduct tax, fee, interest, renovation and furniture cost.

Almost tax-free, as the house in under wife name.
No interest as this is fully paid.
No fee as tenant is found without agent.

Hi TS, I suggest you change the mortgage to intetrest expenses on property to better reflect the true expenses.

Should have something to track additional capital gain/loss on property or realized gain/ loss for stocks too, but that is a bit too complicated.
