Hi, my passport is expiring at the end of the year, and I intend to travel to US in July, I definitely have to renew my passport by June. However I'm going to purchase my air tickets this weekend and iirc, I would have to key in my passport number. If I get a new passport in June, will the passport number be the same, will there be any issues? Thanks!

The new biometric passports will issue new passport number. It's no longer tied to NRIC number for security reasons. So with a new passport comes a new number every 5 years (since biometric passports only lasts for 5 years).

Just go ahead and do your bookings. You can change your passport number with the airline once you've gotten your new passport. Most can be done online or during the online check-in. Worst to worst case you have to call their call center.

ya agree with lcpteck

in addition, u dont have to wait until June to get new passport
June is school holiday period aka peak period so may have long queues

fyi: if ur passport left up to 9 mths validity, it will be added on to the new 5 years validity. so new passport validity is 5 years and 9 mths.

Sorry, if this is a out of topic question, but i was just wondering, if you renew a biometric passport, will the new biometric passport number be the same? Does anyone know?

If you fly by SQ, no need to key in passport number upon booking. I also dun knw why.

Only during online check in then need to key in your passport details.
