my brother was using his PC half way and it went off with a loud bang and couldnt power up anymore after that. I figured it was the PSU so went to have it changed since it was under warranty. now after changing the PSU it still does not power up. i'm guessing it took down the motherboard along with it but the capacitors on the mobo all seem fine.

Could there be any other causes for it to not power up before i decide to change a mobo or overhaul the mobo and processor? actually not sure if the processor inside is fine either.

Motherboard: gigabyte Z77M-D3H rev 1.1
Processor: i7-3770

any suggestions, advice or inputs would be appreciated. Thanks!

You can disassemble the whole rig and check for burn marks.

However, the only way to be sure if the components are working is to substitute each component into a working rig.

It happened to me with my core2duo pc. Psu went out with a bang and motherboard would only work intermittently. Changes to a new motherboard and issue resolved.

PC wan go Boom Boom yah? :p
or
Did it <-2s -> HP you?

Go change motherboard .
Should be alright
Usually the PSU is the first to take the fall
Then the motherboard.
But if the motherboard siam, it will be a free for all for the rest of the components..

thinking of just getting a replacement board but seeing the local price list of those sim lim shops they dont seem to carry 1155 anymore. though i see on lazada and shoppee they have the same board but are from china so kinda skeptical about that. any replacement motherboard to recommend?

wa this just killed me. was like abit hopeful that taobao has it but if its gonna be chinese bios then i dont think ill go ahead alr. was looking through lazada qoo10 and shoppee seems like only the china sellers have them and more expensive than taobao and dont even know if it will be in english then. this just became alot more troublesome and abit of a headache...
