Can undestand your dad, he just dont want to waste time to deal with your PC problem if any, for at least 3 yrs (warranty).

there is always the bigger boy Alienware by Dell, Omen by HP or Predator by acer with actual same day or next day support

Technical support/customer service are not baby sitter. The user/player still must be fairly good and able to deal with some issues. 电脑也可以是方脑.

In my defense, I literally did computer maintenance in my course of study I can maintain the PC myself

Yes these Acer will definitely be cheaper than others.
Acer Predator - > Lenovo Legion - > Dell Alienware

Branded PC at least got next business day repair unlike Aftershock. Aftershock need to send in can take few weeks.

But depend on your nature… I started off with diy and had no problems

Computer got problem? Go diagnose and replace the part best if warranty

Warranty also no cover software os issues so not much use
