Hi all,

Planning to build my PC with specs shown below

Chassis - CoolerMaster K280
Motherboard+CPU - MSI H170 Gaming M3 i7-6700
CPU Cooling - CoolerMaster Seidon 120V+
RAM - DDR4 16GB 2133 MHz
HDD - Toshiba 3TB
SSD - Samsung 250 GB 850 EVO
DVD - Samsung 24X DVD RW SATA
GFX Card - Palit GTX 970 Jetstream
PSU - CoolerMaster V750M

The above build should cost me within 1900

Was thinking of changing up my GFX to MSI, but not sure how much gain I get from doing that.

What do you think?

any reason why you going for an i7?
There is not much diff if upgrade GPU to MSI, only the branding and maybe slightly better built

I am actually thinking if I should just stay with an i5 6500 but people round me were advising me to get i7 for future proofing... since I figured this PC is going to last me 5 years or more before the next upgrade cycle.

what future proofing will you get from i7? as well go for overclock chip for more future proofing.
It mainly boils down to what you going to use for the PC, if you do not make use of the 8 thread, no point going for i7

Thanks for the tip, I am usually using it for some gaming (i.e. Deus Ex, Witcher), media consumption and data crunching on excel when I bring work home.

So if I am getting an i5, which one is better value for money? i6400, i6500 or i6500?

If intense gaming, then GTX970 is not going to be enough.
