Interested in building a rig and based on my research this is what I've come up with. These are parts and price lists based on new eggs. I would be using the rig for the following.

- Playing FIFA 20
- Witcher 3
- Cities Skyline
- design software photoshop or illustrator (non-professional works)

Would like your help in:

- alternative parts of comparable efficiency and price point
- alternative places where I can obtain this parts (since it's all sourced via newegg)
- highlight any issues with compatibility (can the parts fit?)
- PC build as follows is 1.4k, what should I change if I want a 1k build?

Hi @Bleeploads I think you’ve got quite an impressive selection of parts already! Haha looks like you did quite a lot of research too.

Firstly, I’ve tried to look for an alternative motherboard according to your budget and preference but I realized that your choice of the MSI PERFORMANCE GAMING B450 GAMING PLUS is already fantastic for its price it has easy-to-use bios, sturdy VRMs for normal overclocks(tho id suggest running stock as the Ryzen zen plus CPUs have good XFR), reinforced PCIE slots for heavy GPUs, a beefy feel of the hardware and highly compatible with most ddr4 rams according to the global qvl list. So you’re fine with the mobo imo.

Next, I had the same intention for your power supply but could not find a better one than yours as most were either fully modular but 80+ Bronze certified and not worth the $15 discount or 80+ Gold and fully modular but only 550W and not worth the $10 discount either. So your choice of PSU is solid right there

For your RAM, i would suggest slightly higher frequency while maintaining dual channel and 16GB capacity. Because unlike intel’s ring bus architecture, your ryzen 7 2700 is based on the CCX(Core Complex) so higher speed rams are much desired.
If you are ok with black colour, you could get the G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 2800 F4-2800C16D-16GVG for S$126.99 or the red colour heatsink variant for a dollar less expensive.

For storage, due to your budget, I highly recommend ditching the NVMe for more capacity as 240GB will be just too insufficient for your needs. I’ve selected for you two variants which still utilize your motherboard’s m.2 slot so you can still enjoy fuss free cable management. Intel 545s M.2 2280 512GB SATA III or the Crucial P1 500GB 3D NAND NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD - CT500P1SSD8. You could shave off $10-20 by choosing the wired 2.5 inch types of SSDs but it may not look as cool as a clean m.2 slot in drive. However, if you are able to endure in the short term while you save up money to add in additional storage in the near future, then you can always stick with your chosen m.2 NVMe drive yup.

If you want to drop the pricing, you can go for 2600 instead of 2700. If you need extra performance, you can just OC 2600 to 2600x level. If you do not want to OC, you can just buy 2600x.

If you gonna OC, you would need a better MB but if you not gonna OC, a cheap one will do.

To cut the cost, you simply have to pick free shipping opponents and likewise, items that does not incur GST.

For AMD, it is advised to get 3200 mhz ram. Some ram can be OC from 3000 to 3200. Not all ram can do that though. You might need to google abit.

Lastly, you can source your components from different places for best price.
