I know that this is not my thread, but I think I will go with the x3d route based on other forum's suggestions that it's just not worth going for 7000 at the moment. The motherboard and DDR5 are just too pricey and does the same thing with the x3d. I can wait 2 years until the price drops further and Ryzen realising that their greed with the motherboard pricing turns people off.
It really depends on whether one is upgrading from existing AM4 setup or buiding from scratch.
If upgrading from AM4, best choice > 5800x3d or other 8 core for non-gaming rig
If new build, can still opt for AM5 if planning to stay on the socket
If new build on budget, Intel 13th gen + ddr4 best bang for buck
