Hello Bros, need some help here. Cham Liao.

What I did:
Shut down pc, power off, plug off cables.
Took out my heatsink fan+cpu to Clean up the old thermal paste.
Apply new thermal paste using a dot in center and then spread it by pressing the heatsink against cpu such that it spread out in a circle.
And I assemble the cpu/heatsink back.

when I power up the pic, the Lights are up. Fans are all spinning. After 5 seconds, it shuts down without booting up at all. Then it tries to start by itself and it keeps repeating this behaviour.

Any Bros any idea or troubleshoot?

Relax. You probably bumped some component. Re-seat the GPU and RAM and check the other connections.

I was using artic silver 5.

Tried reseating the hardwares and cables. Still the same behaviour. Could it be I fried my own cpu somehow?

Two more things you can try first - (1) remove the CMOS battery, wait a few seconds and put it back in; if that does not work (2) remove GPU and try to boot using the integrated graphics.

@ykgoh yup. Got connect the heatsink fan. It is spinning when I first switch on.

No luck Bros. Tried removing CMOS battery, GPU and leave a one 4gb ram to boot. The same behaviour still.

Do you all think it's because one of the hardware didn't sit properly?

start checking for bent pins

Try re-seating the RAM again, this time cleaning the gold connectors before putting the RAM back in.

If it doesn't work, wiggle the RAM a bit to try and get a better connection.

I've encountered this before with one of my previous rigs and it was usually the RAM connection.

Guys, I manage to get it boot up thanks to everyone input. Indeed it is the ram issue. I suspect that I accidentally move it when I was putting the heat sink.

Anyway, what I did was that I took out both the Rams. Then I slot in 1 ram first. It didn't work at all. But Koenig asked me to wiggle the ram and I did. And it works! Proceed to insert the second ram and all is well now.

Thanks everyone!

Memory modules are very sensitive parts, a slight touch is enough to make your desktop beep at booting.

Nowadays the mobo PCB are thin and flimsy. Apply a bit of pressure to insert a RAM stick or card in the PCI Express slot and we hear it creaking. Quite common to cause other parts to be loosened.

Yeah. I didn't know the ram was so sensitive.

I was intending to buy new mobo/cpu if I couldn't get it up.
