Hi

I upgraded a E4500 to a E5800 on my trusty MSI 945 board. Processor gets recognised on boot screen and runs fine - I presume the BIOS is working with the newer chip.

However after shutdown the screen turns off but others keeps running - fans, casing light. DVD drive. I have to press the power button 3 seconds to shut it down proper. Temperature is below 45C when shut down. I reinstalled the E4500 and it can shut down properly.

Is there anyway to solve this? I tried several options under power management.

Thanks.

You might want to check whether your MB and BIOS supports the E5800, which is on a newer 45nm process compared to the E4500.
