thanks for reply! I wouldn't spend that much money on high end psu which doesnt make sense since I dont overclock cpu or GPU.

Better PSUs use good components and have more protection against over-voltage, short circuit etc. A bad PSU can take out other components when it goes kaboom.

onboard gpu works can access to desktop just that gpu fan (gtx 660) not spinning .. even old gtx 660 that fan supposedly to run even just start pc which in this case isn't but got LED lights up on the PCB of the gpu

I've check visually nothing seems wrong no burn mark or anything on the motherboard nor the rear I/O .. everything works except no gpu detection

which leads to me that I need to get a new motherboard .. went online check the same new motherboard cost as much than getting ryzen2600+a320m motherboard from taobao which needed 100+ sgd more

edit : the pcie slot a bit hang downwards due to the weight of the gtx 660.. maybe that might cause the issue

The real reason to not cheap out on PSU, I got a stubborn friend, die die want to use some weird brand, the PSU was light af, 50+ for 450w I think. Not only did the PSU fry in the end, it took most of the components with it also. So end up he spent 50+ to burn out like 1k.

So if you want to spend less, minimally go with bronze or silver of a well known brand, cause they actually cover damaged components caused by psu

If u adventurous enough, try on the GPUs u have
Clean the slots and contact pins. Sit them nicely into slot, try a couple of times b4 u declare it dead.

Electronics sometimes fail with no visible damage or whatsoever. It's just like "heng suay"

used the compressed air thingy spray before le .. might try to get 1x to 16x pci-e slot riser before buy new board, if it works on 1x i'll update again

your that friend similar to me haha, you mean if locally psu you buy under warranty . go damage some other pc parts that isn't from same dealer also can cover ah

From the bigger brands they have policies to cover your damaged parts if it's caused by their products. This is manufacturers warranty, so won't have any dealership involved.

But this is something normally that's only covered for higher tier PSUs in the past. I'm not even sure if they still do it. Last I heard also dependent on countries.

It's an ongoing debate online on whether the manufacturer will replace the parts still. I think cause, there's little to zero cases of good PSUs burning components as of late. Haha

Oh ya, some more you changed out to a new PSU right? Not saying that it's impossible, but it is unlikely it fried your board. Please tell me you used the new cables!

Otherwise it might be a faulty GPU that fried the PCIE lane

update: went to buy new motherboard just to test whether is PCI-E spoil not.. it might be the case. now old GPU GTX 660 works, but when plug back in GTX 1070 pc immediately turn off after press power button (can see cpu fan light comes up and off straight away no power)

i guess is faulty GPU le.. any place to recommend to fix GPU? or should i just change to first hand GTX 1660 Super?

side note : help friend ask also.. he looking for on site pc repair service, that do pick up from his house and repair finish le and deliver back to him, his parts all out of warranty le..

Nigel does offer onsite pickup & send back. Do check with him for charges.

GTX1070 takes much more power vs GTX660 I think. Don't rule out possible power supply issue.

This is very good vs some of those shops take a service charges then tell you this and that. End up paying lots of money for simple fix.

Good for consumer but maybe not so good for a full time professional like Nigel. Maybe look simple to some, but take years of experience and hardwork to determine accurately the fault. I feel we should give him a fair amount instead of kopi $. He need to pay for rent and have a family to feed. Could have potentially be chopped for much more if went to somewhere else.

I see online they say 500w can le .. idk is really not enough juice to power or gpu spoil .. I no have other psu greater than 500w

and I also not sure whether my gtx 1070 have warranty not.. according to carousell seller he say have 1 year warranty left last year

he only give me tax invoice receipt. dk whether tech dynamic accept it not
