PC fails to POST after BIOS flash (with weird POST code)

Hi all,

Wanted to get some advice. Was experiencing some stability problems with my Asus X370 PRIME PRO, and decided to flash new firmware. Made the stupid mistake of not resetting to defaults.

Firmware was flashed, system rebooted but to blank screen. There are still POST beep codes for no GPU and memory. But I get a weird beep code like this (see attached audio file). Removed all hardware, cleared CMOS but no go.

Seems to be a failed BIOS flash, but wanted to get your thoughts on this. Thanks!

Thanks. The weird thing is that these were the same sticks that worked for the system. Tried sticks from other systems (albeit same 3200 speed) and it’s the same issue.

try reseating your ram again, maybe didn't push it in hard enough.

otherwise try to clean/blow your ram slotfirst

When you say new firmware, did you flash something too new that it doesn't support your old CPU anymore?

sounds like a mem issue leh

try cleaning the ram and install it again.

if cannot see if u can flashback ur old bios

the beeps sounded like the standard 3 beeps mem issue/ram not detected

Yea done that. Tried 6 different sticks (Corsair 3200/3000) in all different ramslots, blew ram slots etc. The additional sticks are confirmed working (as it's pulled from another system).

Nope. The Asus X370 is discontinued, so it was just a stability update. No AGESA updates either. However, prior to this my system was getting a little unstable at my overclocks - got BSODs even at 3000Mhz.

Am going to try and swap processors tomorrow (with another 1700 Ryzen system), just to eliminate memory controller issue. If cannot work then likely is motherboard gone case?

Also ordered a CH341A BIOS programmer as a nuclear option.

- Reseat RAM
- Clear CMOS either by shorting the clear CMOS pin.
Or remove the CMOS battery.
If BIOS failure, it won't be able to post so no beep sound.

Tried all these options, still no go.

BTW this is the POST error code where there is no RAM. It’s also 3 beeps but different in tone.

Am going to leave the system overnight and try again tomorrow.

If happened you used a usb 3.x to flash, re-flash using a usb 2.0 port.

He did not mention what type/brand of motherboard.
Some brand has special recovery utility. Check up the user manual or brand website for details.

YTD I cleaned up my Dell XPS 8700.
Dust could fill up a pillow.

Then it couldn't load, keep restarting.

I reseat the rams and it work, i think probably some dust got stuck at the slots and the rams were seating on dust so contact was bad.

Thanks all. Got a replacement motherboard and everything works. Am quite sure it's not a ram seating issue. I will try with the nuclear option (to reflash with CH341A).
