PC freezes randomly

hi everyone..need some enlightenmentover here..as the said topic, assuming that my hardwares are fine, what are other possibilities that could cause it to hang at random times?

just don't know how to troubleshoot on this one :(

My dad's PC keep freezing when installing drivers. Found out it was mainboard fault.

yea..that is the only the one I suspect among all the hardwares

how did u find out that its the main board's problem?

i test with different hdd, rams. all same error at same point, installation of main board drivers and chipset. So just bring down and RMA, they just straight away 1 to 1 exchange for me :s12::s12:

I see..but mine freezes quite randomly...so I'm really not sure where it went wrong. lol

The prime suspect is usually the HDD, so backup your stuffs, then do a HDD scan.

You won't want to do scan without a backup, coz if there really is a problem due to bad sectors, sometimes the HDD will fail completely after, and all data will be lost.

Well, unless you're willing to fork out $500-$1,500 for professional data recovery.

For random freezing, the first thing I check will be the temperature. Make sure the fans are spinning at normal speeds, clear dust in the vents.

The next thing will be the PSU esp if it is an old comp.
