PC keep on restarting

ur comp just shut down suddenly without warning or hangs there then restart? happened to me twice and twice i had to rma my mobo

it didnt hang or shutdown. Just that it like loop-reboot. Keep on rebooting again and again.

Whats CMOS Checksum Bad? Overclocking Failed? I never overclocked it before, didnt even know how to overclock it. One more thing, whenever the system restart, the boot priority keep jumble up. I already arranged is this manner : 1st ODD, 2nd HDD.. then when it restart it jumble up to : 1st Floppy, 2nd HDD, 3rd Atapi CD ROM, 4th ODD.

This is when i plugged out HDD power cable and SATA cable.

U need to change the CMOS battery

Do u have a spare Hard Disk? maybe can try and see if can install windows?

could be PSU capacitor bloated then, better bring to SLS to check if uplorry can buy the parts required, better to go on weekdays then weekends to avoid the crowd

please don't open the PSU by yourself, ask gs kor kor for help

Where can i buy the cmos batt? How much does it cost roughly? Must i go down to SLS or any computer shop will do? Currently no spare. Finding one at garage now. Lol

might not be cmos batt flat.
if u keep power on and off ur system like that, cmos checksum bad will still occurs.
loop-reboot issue might be ur motherboard short circuit.

i just took a look at ur youtube video.
somewhere in ur motherboard circuit died.
had that issue before and it's unsolvable.

This is a new wrinkle. Just change the CR2032 battery as cost less than 2 bucks. Worth a try since your CMOS setting is gone. I presume the clock setting is gone too. What I have encountered before are checksum error, lost clock setting and cannot power up when the CMOS battery went flat.

Just to confirm, when it boot to BIOS, there is no auto reboot ?

Anyway i already bought and changed the CMOS battery today, already set time and date. But the problem doesnt fix. Now i suspect that my disc drive got problem. Got clicking sound and stop, but still powered on.

still cant use the ubuntu live cd to perform a checkdisk?

guess u need to standby a new harddisk le

Cant use any disc currently due to the disc drive didnt spin at all. Now otw to jp getting new internal disc drive.

No point getting a new hdd at this moment as you do not know exactly where is the problem. It could be mobo or psu problem.

If you want to troubleshoot if it is the harddrive problem, take out your drive and attach it to another pc. Do a checkdisk to clear out any errors on the boot up system files. You may even try to boot up this drive from another system. This will rule out if it is indeed the hard drive problem. If there are no problems with checkdisk, or if the drive can boot up properly, then you know the drive is not the problem.

Problem solved. The problem was my internal dvd was down. Haha! But good thing i already changed the cmos battery. Thanks to you guys for the help. Really appreciated much.

PC struggling to start up

Hi wadafuq, how u know it is the internal CD is the cause of all your problems?

I have similar problem, but mine is like when i press Power On, the PC has to struggle to power on. It's like a car engine couldn't start. Sometimes I hear the PC engine sound starting, followed by a "tuck" sound and PC will die fire, but it will restart by itself (without me pressing the ON button again). Sometimes the "Starting Windows" screen appears and then "tuck" sound and PC die fire, and it auto restart engine.

It will go through a few rounds of the above mentioned and finally it will start windows successfully. Once it successfully started windows, it is quite stable, doesn't reboot or hang.

My internal CD also problematic. Press Open, it makes noise, but cannot open.

My acer monitor recently start trembling. So i thought is spoilt, but while trouble shooting, by chance, i lowered the resolution and the trembling disappeared. According to acer person, monitor is OK, but motherboard spoil.

Back to my difficulty starting computer, how to isolate root cause? CD or motherboard or power supply? I not sure if my CD problem & monitor problem is related to starting up problem.

Any help brothers and sisters?
