Hey guys,

Not sure if this is common for you guys.. But this is the first time this has happened for me. There was a pop up of "PC Low on Memory" error today, and I wasn't even doing anything.. was just leaving it on @ 2 Chrome pages (Facebook and Youtube, playing live songs), when that error popped up. Everything starts to lag badly, I checked Task Manager and the Memory was at about 6.5GB (I had 8GB ram), and I had to restart my PC.

After restarting, I went on to check Task Manager and noticed that the memory started to rise up after continued usage, and now it's @ ~ 7.6GB. Even after restarting a few times, the physical memory % goes all the way up till >90%.

Or is it a sign that PC breakdown is around the corner? My rig is @ 5.5years currently.. Minimal usage now, mainly just web surfing and very minor video editing.

Appreciate if you could advice and share your experiences (or fix)!

Start the Task Manager and see how many processes running. You may want to run msconfig to disable unnecessary startup items.

Same as you, this morning around 1am-3am keep popping out low memory, was listening to music at YouTube on chrome in the background, but I was also TeamViewering somebody at the same time and I think maybe TeamViewer had a memory leak for me, i restarted my computer and didn't use TeamViewer and the problem is gone...

Are you on windows insider program? There is a problem with build 17074 on the slow ring. Seems to be patched.

Hey guys! Thanks for all your responses. Really appreciate the community being so helpful on this!

What I did was I went into Task Manager and clicked around, and I went into Resource Manager. Found out that my anti virus (MBAM.exe) was using up close to 90% of the memory!!

I proceed to uninstall it and just use Bitdefender Free, and my memory went all the way down to 30-50%. At least I found out the problem!

But like what you said, might be because of windows update too. Recently I had quite a few updates and this happened after..

Nonetheless, might proceed to research for new rig overhaul :s13:

Wow coincidentally I am also using malwarebytes, and also the web protection module couldn't start when the low memory happened...

Now all the prices don't seem good for a new rig though imo

something went wrong with malwarebytes' updates, causing it to consume a lot of RAM and web protection to be disabled. they've released a new update to fix this issue and it should be working fine now! (based on my personal experience)
