PC reboots when gaming

My PC always reboots itself when I'm playing Black Desert Online, more specifically only when I'm fighting world bosses when there are many players fighting it and there's many skills and graphical effects going on. But when I'm not doing any intensive stuff, the game runs normally. Also, I'm running the game at the lowest setting.

I play dota2 and csgo as well and they run with no issues. I've tried reformatting my pc and doing a clean installation of windows but it's the same.

My PC specs:

Nvidia GTX 1080Ti
i7-8700K
16GB Ram
650 PSU
MPG Z390 GAMING PRO CARBON AC

I have absolutely no idea what's causing it (which part is faulty). Any help is appreciated thanks!

Could be an unstable GPU clock.

I dont think so? I'm not really familiar with the pc technicalities so I'm not sure how to check if its overclocked

Download Superposition Benchmark

Install Superposition, it is a graphics intensive benchmark.

Keep running the Benchmark over and over for a few times and also watch the temperature and utilization. Utilization should be near 99% and Temperature should not exceed 80 C

Example

Maybe try run 4-5 times repeatedly without rest in-between to normalize the temperature.

If Graphic Card issue, usually the game will crash and the GPU will recover itself. PC will not restart.

But if your PC is restarting, it might not be GPU but unstable memory or CPU overclock.

Or maybe not enough power from the PSU. (unlikely since I am using 1080Ti and 650W PSU without issue)

If it is restarting without blue screen, there is a high chance it's a motherboard or PSU issue.

I don't think its overheating as the temp is max 82 on the gpu during the boss fights.

Yes the restart has always been without a blue screen. Just straight shut-down and restarts.

The PSU is about as old as my GPU, I changed it around the same time as my GPU (around 1 and a half year ago).

I remember it was corsair but I don't recall the brand, its about 1 and a half year old. I changed it around the same time as my GPU. Is it too old already?

I've ran the test twice, it's both around 84C and 97~99% utilization. Unfortunately I can't post the results as image/link because of my low post count

Wouldn't PSU problem be more consistent? Because I just ran the benchmark test using Superposition, if the PSU is faulty, wouldn't my pc crash during the benchmark test as well?

Did the HWMonitor, I saved the file of the results. The highest temp the gpu went was 84C.

Did u try doing some house keeping? If its too dusty inside, it might contribute to the auto restarts

Try switching RAM slots. Happened to me years ago and it was faulty ram.

I hope that its a PSU issue as well, but I can't confirm it. If not I can change the psu

Tried, but when i tried to start my com they warned that its a un-optimized slot so I switched it back

If nothing wrong with the pc, discard the trail socket power point and use a wall sockets with 2 2ways plugs. Poor power supply can cause pc to restart.

Omg. 84C? That's the thermal limit for GTX 1080 Ti before it throttles. meaning, your card is not getting sufficient airflow. Maybe your CPU might be overheating too.

You can try using HWinfo - Link here to monitor Temps for all your CPU cores and see if anything is being limited.

I have a feeling, your PC might be overheating.

Download HWiNFO, run it in background as Sensor only mode and have it Log data while you play BDO. Even if it shutsdown, you'll still have the last logged temperature of your CPU/GPU.

Just for comparison, now the same GTX 1080 Ti model but mine only reaches 70C after 2nd run.
