what are u using this system for? i would say the 14900k is a bad choice, given the 13900k is basically the same thing and is likely cheaper. and if ur just gaming, ur better off with the 7800x3d, which is even cheaper still and yet is faster. the ram looks very out of place here with very loose cl40 subtimings usually reserved for budget kits, the adata xpg lancer rgb kit with tight cl30 timings is probably a similar price if not lower. a 1200w psu is also very overkill, a good 850w unit would suffice.

Will prefer intel, some of the app i use doesnt work well with ryzen by default need tweak, using 5600x now.

strangely enough, the 14900k is actually cheaper than the 13900k at bizgram, and only a couple of dollars more expensive at dynacore. so i take the first opinion back. but this is what id go with if diy:

u add case will be $5k. u can maybe try hunt some parts on 11/11. i did spot an invaderpc config v similar to ur quoted specs, how much was that?

i want to build 14900kf coming december and I am having this PSU headache..
i have 7 case fans running excluding the ones from AIO (Lian Li o11D XL)
i also have 1x 7200rpm HDD 1x 2.5" SSD and 1x m2 nvme
my pc none ARGB..

the game i play (fast pace action MMORPG) hits CPU 80 to100% constantly and GPU wise will depends if i want to set ultra or lowest settings.

Edited: i suggest you calculate your usage base on what you do with the machine you built.
for my case, i would go 1kw if i build the same as yours..

Yeah, you shouldn't get 850W.

Although the usage from the 2 main components is 800W when both are 100%, there's still power draw from SSD, Fans, AIO, and RGB, and of course, don't forget about all your peripherals that also draw power which can largely vary from setup to setup.

The one rule of PSU selection is that it must never be decided based on 99% of the time you use your PC, but account for any type of scenario instead. On top of all that, it's good to have more headroom.

If I were you, I would go with a 1000W PSU minimally.

personally not worried, techpowerups gpu test bench for the latest gen is on the 13900k and uses a 850w psu, looks like is able to handle the 4090 even when it spikes to 500w+. hwu also records a ~550w total system consumption with a 5800x3d, and in gaming workloads the 14900k pulls at most 100w more than that, so an 850w is still plenty imo. i dont think any game can push a 14900k to anywhere near 100% utilisation anyway.

not all cores 100%.. but looking at how the game gobbles up my current CPU.. i want to play safe if i getting 14900k with 4090..
on that screenshot, i have not turn on OBS to record the session with the 6 unused CPU Cores..

Edited: i still think TS should just calculate the power usage base on his own scenario..

keyboard and mouse?

- Lian Li Dynamic Evo XL = $300? or wait for the Hyte Y70
- Lian Li SL V2 (10 nos) = $420? or get Infinity fans
- Lian Li Strimer for 24 pin and 12vhpwr = $180?
- Keyboard, (my fav now) Wooting 60HE? $265, Razer balck Widow 75% $280?
- Mouse, around $150-200

then the monitor..... only use of a 4090 is so that we can play Path Tracing (EVERYTHING TO THE MAX) in full glory of an HDR OLED monitor.....(4k gaming on a big screen like a 42 LG C2 is also good)..Monitor around 1.4k to over 2k just for the mid range ones Ultra widescreen 34 inch.....

this is how your build will approach 7K.......


anyway back to the build...
the HX1200 is not ATX 3.0? go for HX100i ATX 3.0?
u can get way better ram.
AIO not the best performance and looks ( i was also previously looking at CM AIOs) ....performance and cheap go for Artic Liquid Freezer 2
also 2TB is like the bare minimum these days.....need at least 2 x 2TB
Also if u vertically mount ur GPU, make sure u choose one that looks good vertically.....its stupid but it can really irritate u.

In any case, I would suggest the Asus ROG Thor 1200W Platinum II. I always believe in investing in a good PSU.

that the best of the best....and also very nice looking, perfect for those cases that can display the PSU...also the most expensive.....i ran out of $$ and settled for cheaper and plain looking Seasonic (after throwing $$ away getting the TT Toughpower)

Seasonic is about the same. After all, Thor and Thor II are Seasonic OEM, just with the OLED screen and bigger heatsinks.
