Hi all,

Lost touch on PC spec etc, last full rig build was in 2010.
Need a new rig for gaming (Civ 6, d3, etc) and work(MS office, PS etc).

Saw the below recommendation for a moderate rig in the sticky.

Intel Core i5 4670K & ASUS Z87 Plus ~ $594
G.Skill DDR3-1600MHz 8GB (2X4GB) ~ $77
Gigabyte R9 280X 3GB Winforce OC ~ $449 or Gigabyte GTX 760 2GB Winforce OC ~ $409
Plextor M5 Pro Xtreme 256GB or Samsung SSD 840 Pro 256GB or OCZ Vector 150 240GB
HDD 2TB for Storage ~ $128
Samsung SATA 24X DVD Rewriter ~ $24
Superflower HX 600 ~ $110
Ikonik EN2 ~ $55
Total ~ $22XX

Will the above spec fulfill my requirement?

Thanks.

That spec is out of touch too. It's a gen old. Haha. Your budget is 2.2k I assume.

Will you be using the DVD drive a lot?
Pc on table or floor?
You need the overclocking?
Aesthetic important?
Want water cooling or prefer everything run on air?

To answer your question, yes it does fulfill your requirements but I wouldn't recommend you to buy 4th gen Intel as it is stuck with ddr3 rams :s22:

Can you provide me some recommendation for a newer rig?

budget ~1.8k - 2k

Will you be using the DVD drive a lot? Not much i guess.
Pc on table or floor? table, my current rig is mid tower, i still have it on the table, what is the concern, if any?
You need the overclocking? Nope.
Aesthetic important? Abit bahz, dont wan something that look very ugly, but general casing with side panel will do.
Want water cooling or prefer everything run on air? By air, water cooling too mafan.

Thanks.

DVD drive if not much then get external DVD drive. Cheap one will do. Nowadays most stuff are available online. Don't want to waste space for 5.25" Bay.

Pc on the floor will accumulate a lot of dust. So bottom removable dust filter will become important for constant cleaning.

Liquid aio require little to no maintenance. Only clearing of dust of the radiator and fan. But air is easier to maintain indeed.

Will reply your specs in awhile. hang on.

Asus b150 pro gaming aura + i5-6500 - $505 (for future proofing usb 3.1 type A and C plus the aura led bling)
Kingston value ram ddr4 2x8gb - $126
Superflower leadex 550w gold - $139
Samsung 850 evo 250gb ssd - $102 (from Qoo10 seller evtech)
WD BLUE 1TB - $112
Zotac gtx1070 mini - $480 (from Qoo10 seller video pro after stacking 120 off 600 coupon)
Windows 10 from reddit or carousell (about 40 bucks in digital key format)

Total: $1504

Pricing mostly from pc theme unless otherwise stated.

Casing is up to you since you got plenty of budget left for any aesthetic features you want to do. Would recommend corsair or fractal design. Their stuff is good and neat.

Hi, Thanks for the recommendation.

Zotac gtx1070 mini, how does the stacking of 120 coupon works?
