PC shuts off in one second after start up.

Hello guys, I recently bought a corsair RM650 power supply unit and a Cooler Master N400 casing from PC theme.

After upgrading my rig with them, whenever I press the power button, my PC would startup for a second and than shutdown. It would continue starting up and shutting down within a second until I turn off the power.

I am pretty sure I connect everything correctly as during the short time when it starts up, I observed that the cpu fan, gpu and HDD boots up.

I have tried removing my HDD, Graphic card and hardisk drive to see if they are causing the problem, I even tried untightening the screws to see if that works, but apparently my pc would still suffers from the same problem.

I am suspecting that my rig is experiencing a short-circuit and the culprit is the new RM650 psu as my rig was able to boot up with the old psu prior to the upgrade.

Anybody here experienced this before, Care to share how you solve it? Also do you guys also think that the culprit is the RM650? If it is I guess I would RMA it these coming weekend.

Now use old psu can power up Bo ? If can should be the new psu issue ~

Just do a Paperclip test and see will it turn on and off. If yes then most probably the PSU is trying to protect from circuit short.

If it is still power on and off then most probably the PSU is faulty.

Hello guys! I am most certain that it is the corsair rm650 that is faulty. I did the paper clip test and the PSU did not even power up. I tried to connect the rm650 onto my second rig and that rig suffered the same problem, which is starting up and shutting down within a second. With the old power supply, the rig is able to start up without a problem.

A thing to note, is that this PSU made a click sound during the time it starts and shuts off.

Also I am new to the whole RMA thing as this is my first time getting a brand new part that is faulty. I would be RMA-ing it in PCtheme as this PSU is still under 10 days old from the date of purchase. Do I just bring down the power supply unit itself with the receipt or the entire box with all the components with the receipt?

10 days old not sure pcthemes will allow to do 1-1 exchange or not.

Can give it a try. Else you got to go down to convergent at ubi area to do an exchange.
