Hi all, Please do help me on this.
Problem: My pc shuts off suddenly while im playing games. Games like GTA V, CS GO etc.
It goes off and then reboots by itself. (self build PC)
PC SPECS:
Processor: Intel i5 4570
Mainboard :MSI H87-G43 Gaming
Graphics Card: Sapphire R9 290 TRI X OC
Memory : Crucial 8GB DDR3 1600MHZ
Storage: Crucial M550 128 GB SSD + Western Digital 1TB Blue
PSU : Seasonic S12G-650W Non-Modular 80+ Gold

Using MSI after burner to monitor. My GPU temps hit 60-(mid 70) during GTA. And CS GO would be around 60-70(max).
Steps i did to counter heat : i increase the Fan speed to 80% all the time during GTA. and temps hit high 60s all the time. But it still shut off my PC
Is it due to overheating?
My CPU is placed on my desk . So there is room for ventilation. However the PSU fans are facing the bottom. ( not sure if this is a problem. But it was build that way)

No need to tear apart.... just remove the gpu from motherboard and clean the metal contact (pci-e)

try to run some basic graphic benchmarking software like 3dMark vantage using just your onboard video. This will help to narrow down the fault.

1. Run prime95 software to test your CPU. If test is fine after some time without crashing, CPU not the prob.
2. Run Furmark / MSI Kombuster / Unigine Heaven to see if your rig crashes, if no, GPU not the prob.

Also remove your graphic card and use the mobo's video processor and see if its ok.

If CPU/GPU fails the test, reseat your CPU/GPU
Take a soft eraser to rub the connectors for your GPU PCIE and your RAM.

If u think your GPU temp too high can do some research and attempt to replace thermal compound on GPU, did it once and its pretty idiot proof if you know how to dismantle your pc.

im gonna run all this test when i get home from work..and leave it on for a few hours. and i'll report back. previously i have run furmark before and it does the same thing to my computer. But i didnt believe it was my GPU cause some people say that they can play games well. But cant handle the furmark stress.

Dismantling shouldn't be a problem. But hopefully i can fix this problem first before tackling that heat.

Somehow i also feel its PSU.. Dont know is faulty or not enough power. But 650W should be more than enough for my Specs.

I have the same problem as u. Auto restart when I'm playing csgo. My findings is that PSU doesn't have enuff power. I'm using 680gtx and fsp 650w gold. I set csgo video settings to low and my pc doesn't restart that often. I feel that the psu might have deteriorate over the years. It was bought in end 2012.

I'm just wondering if it can be RMA.
