Hey. Planning on getting a new rig for a budget of ~ $1200/+

Need
  • OS - Can get from Reddit?
  • Mobo/CPU - Was thinking a H170 + i5 6500 (ASRock or MSI)
  • GFX - Was condering the GTX 970. But apparently there are issues with RAM usage > 3.5GB? Should go AMD instead?
  • RAM
  • PSU - Got modular ones?
  • Case (mATX welcome)

Have SSD (Bought the Transcend SSD370S during the Lazada sale - any good? Or should change?) + HDD + Keyboard/Mouse.

Thanks!

OS can get from Reddit, got good experience before(current system using the reddit OS for 2-3months), forgot the name of my seller liao but if u ask around they can recommend u a few honorable ones

CPU+Mobo is ok, Asrock or MSI is purely depend on u, factors will be price, color scheme, features and last but most important of all REVIEWS (just google or ask around here)

GFX is good. The 3.5 drama is purely affecting those using a 1440p or higher monitor only. If you are playing on 1080p should be no probs. Can consider getting those less 'branded' brands like palit and zotac.

PSU - Recommend Super Flower Leadex Silver 650w

Others like ram or case just go down and see see look look lor, if not can ask others for recommendations

Edit: 1200+ for Skylake plus gtx970 might be a little hard(but then again not expert on pricing), do you need monitor?

Good quality at a cheaper price. The brand is not as well known as like cooler master all those but then is definitely on par with the better models and brands lor. Didn't know about the brand also until the bros in this forum recommended it to me. That and the fact that it is fully modular.

the gtx 970 is good enough for 1080p, but i wouldn't recommend it. not because its terrible, but more because nvidia lied about its specs and the 5.3 gb fiasco, and that the 390 has so much more vram for the same price. the vram is more redundant than anything, but more games are needing lots of vram these days. if can go with the 390/290, but if you wanna go gtx 970 than thats okay.
need any wifi?any color preferences?
