PC unable stay on

Hello.. Need some guidance from the experts here. My PC suddenly unable to stay on. It can boot up, but will just switch off by itself after less than 2 mins. I can send it into bios, fiddle around there abit and it will shut off by itself.

My PC specs are below:
Msi g45 gaming
I5 4670
24gb ram
Plextor 256gb ssd + a few other harddisks
Gtx 970.

The original psu is a fsp aurum, I also tried with an older corsair 620hx.

I tried to swap a psu and it still happens. Is it due to my aging mobo? Everything is around 5 years old except for the gfx.

You might want to check whether the power and reset connectors from casing to MB are secure.

when is the last time u replace the thermal paste?and does ur cpu fan runs smoothly?go download hwmonitor and check ur temp

You mean removing the mobo from the case? Not yet. Guess I'll try when I have the time.

I do monitor my temps, doesn't go above 60 for my processor and chipsets. Maybe above 60 once in a while for the gfx.

I had similar problem last time. No abnormal temp. Removed to bare minimum and change PSU yet it still shut down by itself after turning on for few minutes.

Found that mobo got problem. Changed mobo and all was good.

Wow ok thanks! Now I need to find a similar mobo to test..

You can try remove parts by parts and see if problem persist. Could just be a bad hdd or ssd or bad cable. But most likely your motherboard is the culprit.

Corbell was nice enough to help me test the motherboard, and they confirmed it's faulty.

Hence bought a replacement and now my PC works fine.

Am having the same problem too, changed the PSU already and PC was working for a while till this morning, cannot power up again.

Damn sian... So far from what i have been reading, all points to mobo.

Yeah they were helpful enough to help test, at least they confirmed the problem so I did not have to test other components one by one. Just that they didn't have any more stock of a LGA 1150 mobo and I had to buy it elsewhere.

I would trust Corbell to have tested the mobo properly to tell me that it was a chipset problem rather than CMOS battery.

Luckily I was still able to find a replacement for a Haswell chip.
