Hi,

I get blue screen or screen hang these past few weeks so i'm looking to upgrade my PC of 5 years. Using 2 monitors, 1 for WoW/CSGO, the other for Youtube/FB.

I'm not in a rush to upgrade. Budget around 1-1.5k.

Probably going to SLS to get parts unless online prices are significantly lower.

Thanks in advance.

Anyway do u wanna troubleshoot some parts so u can reuse back or u want to have a total overhaul?

Beside that do u really need a pc to play 2 games at the same time?

Which parts you recommend I keep?

I'm not playing 2 games at once. I normally play wow or csgo while having youtube/FB on the other monitor.

well almost all lol, but if really u still having bluescreen im wondering whats the error though, i mean could hardware related to software related. just that im not sure whats your actual issues. even if u change some parts could even revive back your dead pc.

Hmmm, I could go troubleshoot and find out.

But if I want to have better gaming experience, what parts should I upgrade

Well if u have the budget get 1070 den that's good. But mobo is abit hard unless u gonna change cpu too. Another way is that u see anyone still selling their ivy bridge mobo or not. Ram if u have the need just grab 1 piece of 8GB ddr3

let me make a suggestion, don't mind me..
Get a k series chip from marketplace and overclock, it won't cost much.
Why need cpu upgrade? Both wow and cs go are cpu intensive games.

For CS:GO around GTX 950/960 performance is a sweet spot, because anything better than that only make little difference to the FPS or none at all.
A better CPU will significantly increase it.. the better your CPU core performs the higher your frames will be in cs:go provided the GPU is not bottle-necking.

It seems that WOW has the same behavior too, http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/20743584730#2

But because GTX 660ti performance is worse than GTX 950/960, you will need to upgrade too to maximize framerate.. everyone knows cs:go at consistent above 200+ frames make a big difference when you are controlling a spray.

But you for sure do not need a 480 as it is predictably way more powerful than a 950/960.

Based on your usage scenario, budget should be split more towards spending on CPU than GPU.

wow i didnt know that wow is more on CPU base, i though is GPU, and ya CS is always on CPU base den gpu dependent.

what's a k series chip?

i'm looking to invest in a good gpu so that i won't have to touch it for another 4/5 years hopefully. correct me if i'm wrong but the price between RX480 and GTX970 does not differ very much no?

well a k series chip means that its an overclocking chips, where u can push abit more of its base clock speed been push beyond a limit speed. e.g. base clock speed of 3.0GHz and boost it speed to 4.0Ghz with overclocking.

well basically what he means that due to the games u are playing relies more on cpu power than gpu power, which in other words might have some bottle-necking issues. that could means that ur cpu is working very hard but gpu only put in certain amount of that is quite less than cpu.

yes unless u buying the 8GB variant of RX 480 den there is no price differences with GTX 970, but if u ask performances/price, its definitely no brainier to choose GTX 970. (but too bad RX 480 game benchmark not out yet so its kinda hard to say)

I think you meant to say it's a no brainer choosing the RX480 lol.
