Hi all, I currently have a rig that was recommended years ago by members here. It's been 3 years and wish to upgrade my rig. Below is my specs.

intel i5-2500k
asrock z68 extreme 4
kingston ddr3 1333mhz 4gb x 2
WD 1TB black 64mb 3.5" SATA3
LG 22X Sata DVDRW
Sapphire 2gb 6950 DDR5
FSP 600W avrun series gold 80+
cooler master storm enforcer casing
running on MS win 7 home premium 64bit

Basically I use it as a gaming PC for D3, FPS game like battlefield 4. However, sometimes the frame rate is quite low. I guess upgrading is in order. Haven been updated on the parts thus need some help. I guess I would need to upgrade my motherboard, graphics card, ram, add a few more harddisk and definitely get an SSD. Thanks!

hi Swiftbladez, budget should be around 1.5 to 2k. Is SSD still expensive in SG?

Not expensive but amazon still cheaper.

Anyway, you really only need to upgrade graphics card. everything else dun need touch. the 2500k still runs like a beast for gaming. an SSD can improve overall responsiveness of the system.

Get a ssd and gpu card. See you like amd or nividia. Ssd can always get samsung evo from amazon, if you don't mind waiting.

hi hoenn041, thanks for the advice. What graphics card would be good? I plan to get a WD 2TB black for extra storage and a SSD as well.

i think that the zotac gtx 760 from mynextcom is a decent deal at $320

as for ssd, the new crucial mx100 from amazon looks good ($109 usd). u can do a search around the forums for how to RMA crucial products bought from overseas.

storage wise wd green is good enough if you are just intending to store videos and stuff.

hi hoenn041, thanks. WD Green is cheaper than black i supposed? I plan to bring my rig to PCThemes since they helped me previously. Gonna select the parts from there.

All you need is just a new graphics card and perhaps a 256GB SSD so everything loads faster.

Btw, OC your RAM from DDR1333 to DDR1600. Cause 1333 and 1600 quite a major difference in performance. 1600 above very minimal. Just change your RAM multiplier in the BIOS.

CPU just keep and OC to 4GHz if you want. Don't need upgrade cause new ones are just slightly faster.

For Sandy Bridge differences are very minimal:
