Pc won't turn on.

I wanna ask what how to find the cause of my pc not turning on. I did try the paper clip test on my Psu if it is the problem. But the fan spins when I turn on the power during the paper clip test. Is it my motherboard or power button that is the problem or is there some other problem?

The following are the possible causes when a PC cannot power up.
1. Faulty PSU
2. 3 pin plug - fuse blow
3. Flat CMOS battery (CR2032)
4. Faulty power on switch

For your case, can rule out 1 and 2. Normally, >5 yrs PC might have a flat CMOS battery(CR2032). To rule out faulty power on switch, swap power on jumper with the reset jumper and try using the reset button to power on.

Next step, you may try booting to BIOS with onboard video if your motherboard has video out port. Before you do this, disconnect the hard disk and unplug the graphic card.

I build my pc few months ago around Feb? I wont rule out as it could be the problem. Where can I find this battery? Any hardware store or I need to a specific shop? I tried to jump start the power switch but it didnt power on .

Can get from provision shop.

If it's that new, then it might not be CR2032 battery problem.

When you power on your PC, did the CPU fan spin ? If yes, then you can trying booting to BIOS i.e. disconnect the hard disk. If you have onboard video port then use it and remove the graphic card. If all these fail, then try booting with 1 RAM module and see if it goes into BIOS.

When you say dont turn on. Means u press button totally no response?

If this is the case. Zero response no fan moving no nothing. Problem is either the psu. Or even the cpu casing switch.

For psu. Make sure all switches are turned on. I had someone accidentally switch off the psu from the back then tell me the com not working before. If your paperclip test shows the psu working. Then it may be the connection to the motherboard problem

Else you can test the case switch by shorting the on pins on the motherboard.

Generally. If the psu is working but something else is causing it to not work. You will at least see the cpu fans or case fans running awhile then turning off. If in your case. Totally no response. I suspect its the psu problem

Your motherboard has onboard video port. So, you can test it and the RAM module.
1. Disconnect the video card, and the hard disk.
2. Connect the PSU to then motherboard. There are 2 connectors(8pins & 24pins).
3. Connect the monitor to the motherboard video port.
4. Insert 1 RAM module into DDR4_1 memory socket. Make sure you insert the correct orientation.

Try power on. If it powers up and goes into BIOS, then your motherboard and RAM are OK. Next test the 2nd RAM module. Power off and swap the RAM module in DDR4_1 socket. Power on again. I am assuming you have 2 RAM modules.

If you have done all these and still cannot power up, then it's time for you to RMA the motherboard.

Oh I miss reading your reply. So the cpu fan didn't spin! Please check if you connect the 8pins and 24pins connectors. In this case, it could be the PSU problem. RMA it.
